Cal or UCLA??

Yes, it's that typical question. I still have to go down for Bruin Day, but I've already been to Cal for the OSP. Before the program, I was leaning toward UCLA, now I am leaning toward Cal...I'll see what effect UCLA has on me in 4 days.

Nonetheless, I wanted to get some opinions. Of course most of you will say that Cal may have more prestige, and some of you may say that it depends on what I want. The fact is, I could see myself either place thus far.

The other problem (or perhaps not a problem) is that I really do not know what to do in College. I am undeclared, because while I have interests in the humanities (languages, IR, poly-sci, etc.), I am also interested in physics, cosmology and music fields. And i know both places offer me all of the majors I could want (too bad I won't have enough time to quadruple major : D ).

So I just wanted to get some opinions from a lot of different people. Please try to give some ups and downs and not just say GO BEARS/BRUINS!!! Haha.

Thank you

I would definitely visit both campuses and see which one feels the most right for you.

Cal is in a very liberal and politically charged city; has a moderate, foggy climate; is surrounded by the diverse, historically and culturally rich bay area; and the Silicon valley is less than an hour away (if you turn out to be interested in computer science or engineering).

UCLA has a more chill atmosphere, but the weather is definitely hotter (typical of Socal weather). I don’t know as much about UCLA other than that and its renowned academics, but I suppose I’ll find out when I go to Bruin Day myself this Saturday.

Anyways, you’re right; both schools are very well-rounded and are good for exploring what you might be passionate about, making your decision difficult. But if there is anything you should do, it is to visit them, and it doesn’t hurt to check out what undergrad courses they have too.

Good luck with your decision!

I think this ought to be the deciding factor: [YouTube - UCLA Girl’s Asian Rant](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)
