Cal Parking

I was just curious to see how many accepted transfer students are going to be bringing their vehicles with them?

Currently the parking website has no information on Residence Hall and Storage Parking passes. The only information I was able to obtain is off the housing site. Does anyone have any further information? The links on the housing website are "dead."

Unless you intend to do a lot of driving I would leave your car at home. The public transportation is good here. The Berkeley Parking Police are horrible. They also ticket every 3 hours so you could, potentially, pay quite a hefty fine. (once you've been ticketed they know exactly when to return for the next one - on the dot).

I actually received a ticket for not having a front license plate (my car is from Arizona and I don't have a holder for a front plate). I was ticketed all night long (even though there was no chance to correct the issue in the middle of the night). After a few hundred dollars in fines I decided to leave my vehicle at home.

Yeah, I've gotten that impression from the Bay Area as a whole. I had my car towed and impounded in SF last summer. $200 to get it out. Personally, I have a problem with not having my own mode of transportation with me at all times. I guess I am going to have to think about it!

i myself am having a serious case of separation anxiety at the thought of leaving my car at home while i'm at cal (read: no, i'm not taking my car).

if i do however, i'm probably just going to get a city permit so i can have my car for a couple weeks at a time, should i choose.

i'm going to miss my car since i'm not taking it....ah the fun times...my $371 speeding ticket (thank you CHP)....ah the california roll that got me a fine that i will soon be receiving in the mail.....ah high gas prices that have been cleaning out my parents' ( :) not my) pockets....

maybe not having a car won't be so bad for me.... my friend over at santa clara univ will probably be taking me home and back and i need the excercise, so walking around town/taking bart to sf won't be that bad

i heard that skateboarding on campus is illegal now? is that true?

feurwerke> They have to catch you first...

hmmm, so need i be super DUPER vigilant while skating around? or can i be pretty chill about it?

Not really. The campus police are pretty cool with people using boards for transportation.
