Sadly, I’m 99% sure I won’t be able to afford Cal Poly :(

I feel really bad since everyone is applying for a really competitive major and I’m just sitting here like “hey guys my major DOES, in fact, exist”. Good luck to everyone though!

Nope nothing for me. The only thing I’ve done with them since sending in everything is receiving an email to open my portal a couple months ago.

that’s actually what I am talking about - info on setting up your portal. We received an email saying it might take 3 weeks to get it, but its been about 6 by now. We did receive an email
saying that ‘your cal poly email is now forwarded to xxxxxx (my email acct)’, but never anything about the portal to check status, etc.

You need your cal poly email to log into your portal. I can’t remember the entire process because I opened mine a while ago, but you definitely need your cal poly email and then you create a password I think.

Major: Journalism
CSU GPA: 3.81

SAT II: 730 US History, 700 Lit, 650 Math
2 AP tests, 3 planned
ECs: Editor of school newspaper, leadership positions in the clubs I’m in, ~300 hrs of volunteer work.

Heads up guys, there will be a 12% admittance rate this year for oncoming freshman. there were 52,000 applications while there are only just over 4,500 freshman and 800 transfer students. I already got in for Aerospace in ED. good luck and goodbye now!

They accept a lot more because not everyone will attend cal poly slo. 12% is more of an Ivy League acceptance rate. They dont just accept 4500 applicants just because there is only room for 4500.

GPA - Unweighted: 3.81
GPA - Weighted: 4.30
Class Rank: top 10%

Hey everyone! Good luck with your applications! Calpoly SLO is my number one choice for college! I am currently enrolled in college while in high school in the Washington Running Start Program. My SAT scores are pretty low, but I am hoping for my previous engineering courses to make up for it. I plan on building agricultural equipment in their mechatronics program! I have notified the admissions board of a D I have received in a college math course at Eastern Washington University where I have chosen to retake it with a different professor and am receiving an A on all of my work! Strange when you switch profs. Anyway, I really hope to get in because it is a hands on school, but think that it may be a stretch with my SAT scores. Any ideas? Thanks!

Does anyone know the exact date we’ll find out our decisions? Mid-February is a bit vague, and I’m going on vacation around then and I’m just soooooo curious!!!

Don’t know if this helps at all - my son’s rejection letter from 2010 is dated March 2. I do remember that we saw the status online had changed a week or two before we got the actual letter in the mail.

I also remember that he got an acceptance email from UC Irvine while we were on vacation, so I think that was probably during president’s week. That was the earliest we heard from any of the UCs. Everything was pretty much downhill from there. Hoping for better results for child #2!! (I’m not saying Irvine is bad, just the whole experience was a lot more rejections than we had expected).
