So I'm choosing a school for undergraduate engineering (Cal Poly Slo, UCI, UCLA) and I have some questions on the programs they offer.

Cal Poly SLO has a 4+1 program to get my BS and an MS or MBA (not sure on the mba part I need to double check)
And UCI has the 3+2 program to get an MBA
Is it a good idea to go to one of these schools to graduate with a BS in engineering and an MBA?

Like does UCI and/or Cal Poly SLO have a good business school reputation?
(Good as in reputable in both the real world and ranking)

And does it matter where I go for an undergraduate engineering degree (between UCLA and Cal Poly SLO) if I want to get an MBA from a top business school?

Neither UCI or SLO is a top business school, so if that’s your goal their joint degrees are not great choices.

I think Cal Poly and UCLA produce different kinds of engineers. The Poly grads are more hands on and the LA grads more trained in theory. So depending on if you see yourself as an on the job engineer or a developer, the school would make a difference.

Top MBA programs have a disproportionate percentage of kids from top colleges. UCLA would be the better choice if you’re aiming at a top 10 MBA program.

Does UCI have a better reputation over cal poly if I wanna go to a top business school someday?
Overall their engineering isn’t held in high esteem by employers over Cal Poly or UCLA though.
