Hi, so I really want to go to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to major in Ag. Business and minor in Dairy Science.
But I am worried that I will not get in. I am a good student and have very good grades. My overall Gpa so far is 3.0 on the nose. I am taking many advanced courses and challenging myself a lot. I am very active in the community, in my local farm bureau, the FFA, part of the Key Club, Fundraise for the Farm Foundation for my county, won First place in ag mechanics at the fair, won outstanding project of the year for 1st-year students in ag mechanics at my high school, recognized by my school and ag advisory board for outstanding performance in ag, raise show steers, rescue livestock, won 4th place showmanship overall heavyweight for my 1st-year steer, earned my FFA state degree, earned my Land Management Proficiency Degree, and will be competing in January of this year to become a beef ambassador.
I have to get fee waivers to take the SAT and ACT because my family does not have a lot of money. So my first SAT was 1100 and I just took another one but haven’t gotten the scores yet and then I took the ACT and got a 24 and the writing score has not been graded yet.
I went to parchment.com and I put in my scores and what not and it says 40% chance of admissions which I heard is an accurate source and then a different one I went to said 45% chance of admission. Are these good? Will my ECs help me out at all?
Please help me I am so stressed.
SLO admits by MCA score and major. Ag. Business has a decent acceptance rate but you still have to be a competitive applicant. First, you should calculate your MCA score. EC’s unfortunately are only worth about 10% of the MCA points. GPA/Test scores and HS course rigor will contribute to the majority of points.
Freshman profile for 2016:
Agriculture, Food & Environmental Sciences applied: 4429 admitted: 1920
Average CP GPA: 3.90 Average ACT: 28 Average SAT (Math+CR): 1261
Definitely apply but have several backup schools on your list since your GPA is very low in comparison to last years stats.
