<p>On the cal poly site it states that they recommend a total of 10 units of english, which i cant understand. Does anyone know what they measure a unit by. Because when i see "unit" i think a semester. But i only have 8 semesters in my high school career not 10. I really dont understand how i'm supposed to get 10, the only way i could think is going to summer school. In summer school though they only offer make up classes like english 10,11,etc. if people didnt pass them in the regular school year. Can someone please help me!</p>
<p>This link Freshman Selection Criteria - College of Liberal Arts - Admissions - Cal Poly shows the required and desired coursework. It refers to semesters, and it does seem to indicate that five years of English is recommended. Since most students don't have an opportunity to double up on standard English in any year, I'm assuming that there are other courses (ethics, debate, creative writing???) that would count as the 5th year of English. I'd recommend searching deeper in their website or calling their admissions office for clarification.</p>
