Cal Poly Admissions REVOKED?

Hi Guys,

I’m sure you’ve heard this one before, so bare with me for just another.
I’m a Community College student who has been admitted (and accepted) to Cal Poly, SLO, for Computer Engineering. I’ve just realized I kind of have a slight problem, that can potentially get my admissions revoked; and that will be the death of me.

So basically, at the time of apply there was no student handbook available for the spring semester. When I was filling out the portion for “Planned Courses” for this [spring] semester I had put classes I wanted to take, but not needed; Chemistry, a programming class, and Astronomy. Now, the problem was that once I was able to sign up for classes Chemistry and the programming class were in time conflict with two other classes, and I believe the other classes were most important - Differential Equations, Intro to Circuits. And as for Astronomy I kind of just forgot and took Marine Bio for a live science GE instead.

I already had my physical sciences completed from Physics, and I wouldn’t learn a considerable amount in the programming class at my CC than at Cal Poly.

Do you think my chances of getting revoked are pretty high or should I sleep easy at night? I’m pretty nervous, just need some closure.

Thanks =D

The only thing you can do is call the admissions department and do it right away. The school is VERY selective and once they have accepted you they want to keep you. Do not be afraid to communicate. They will work with you.

I had already called their admissions. See just advised me to send in my official transcripts asap; I had filled out the forms for my official transcript at my CC after the phone call earlier this week. Just wanted to get others opinions that may have gone through this. Thank you for the reply!

Call the admissions right away.
Explain them your situation. They accepted you because they believe you have the right stuff for their school. If some of your missing classes are important in fulfilling certain transfer requirements, it might be an issue, but you will not know until you call them.

Also, sincerely explain to them why it is that you were not able to get the same schedule that you reported to them. In all honesty, at the end of the day, they are looking for kids who are on top of their stuff, so the least you could do is show them that you might have made a mistake and are very interested in correcting it.
