Cal Poly Appeals?

My college counselor and the Cal Poly website have both told me that they do not accept appeals. HOWEVER, i have read some posts about people who have appealed nonetheless and been accepted.

I applied for Aerospace with a 3.6 and 27 on my ACT. But I took the ACT again in December and scored a 30. This would be one of the reasons to appeal. Any feedback is appreciated, thanks!

i was gonna call admissions today and i ask about that, but i forgot! greattt and now they're on spring break! i wonder if it'll be open next week.. hopefully i'll remember on monday and i'll try to call and ask. i've read post of people being accepted by appealing even though on the website it says you can't. it also says on the website that they don't have a waitlist, which isn't true because i know quite a few people that are on one. so.. i don't really know the answer to your question, but my best advice is to contact admissions and ask.

yeah i'll call on monday, thanks!

Thanks in advance for calling. Please post info up whenever you get it =)
I'm also interested in the "appeals" process at SLO.

for reference, my friend is on the waitlist for the major of Aerospace engineering. She has a 4.0 CSU gpa witha 1890 sat 1 sat 2s 720m 650 english. <<Something like that.

She was told by the school that the admission that there are 600 students on the waiting list and she is supposed to find out by mid may. Since csus' are all numbers, they don't really care about all of her EC activities.

sat 2's dont matter for cal poly, nor do they care about EC's unless they are related to your major

i have a 3.9 and a 1900 SAT with a 700 math, i got flat out rejected from ME, but i guess a friend of mine appealed to cal poly and got in, but idk what her story was but im trying to find out, because i want to go to slo

i just talked to her, she didnt appeal, she applied for the summer quarter and got in that way

of course, cal poly isnt taking any summer applicants this year so thats just great.

How does the summer quarter work? :( i really wanna go there haha ...

Zeva - I do not think they are offering that option this year. They are already swamped with applications. That option is only really there so they can fill the rest of their slots. If there are no open slots, there is no summer quarter admissions.

ic that kinda sucks :(

cali trumpet is somewhat correct. according to cal poly admissions, they have completely eliminated their summer program, except for summer classes offered to students who are already there.

ive been accepted into UC Davis and Irvine, i think i will do fine there. good luck!

When I called to see what was up with my application...she said that they are not taking appeals.

sorry! :[

Yeah sorry I was not completely sure the reason for cutting the summer start program, I just knew they cut it.

jb9: yeah me and my friends called and they all say the same thing...NO APPEALS. however, i have heard about some people on and off of CC that have appealed nonetheless and been accepted. if you REALLY wanted to go there, you can send an appeal to the office of admissions anyways, youve got nothing to lose, right?

i think so mrforks.. that's gotta be because people have been accepted by appealing even though it says that you can't appeal. when i typed in cal poly appeals into google.. i checked out the first link and it kinda confused me, but there's an email address and phone number to contact someone. you should try that.

How exactally do you appeal?

you simply write a letter to the office of admissions asking them to reconsider your rejection. the only way youre going to get the decision reversed is if you have a solid reason like unreceived test scores or something.

so... i basically have no chance.. .but ill try to send an email :)

my friend got in from a hardship appeal

yeah i just appealed, its pretty simple. i just emailed some admissions person and asked her who i should send my appeal to. i didn't even tell her the basis of my appeal and she told me that I'm on the appeal list and should expect a response in two weeks. i don't think they take personal reasons for appeals, by appealing all they do is go over your app again.
