Hi everyone. I am filling out my early decision app for Cal Poly SLO and I had a question regarding the Activities portion. When it asks about how many hours per week i worked for the last 12 months, do i have to divide my number of hours i have total by the 360ish weeks ? or just in the couple of months i worked how many hours per week i worked. Also when it says “work” does it mean a job or can it be anythign relating to the major i applied to. E.G : For Arch.E major, i design and built a model of a truss bridge this year for my Adv. Eng and Arch Class. and took the project home countless times ( does internship count too ?)

Also. two more : 1) when it asks when my family became a perminent resident in CA. is it just the date my family and I came to US. or is it an actual date when my parents became US citizens
2) For expected 2010 income (Taxed and untaxed) how does it work. it only provides enough space for one income. and do i just put my dad’s 2009 income as expected?

For work, I think they mean an actual paid job, maybe an internship. I would just put down the number of weeks you worked, and then the hours per week. For example, if you worked only during the summer, I’d put 8 weeks and then 10 hours/week, or whatever it is for you. I would not include stuff done for class as work.

1) I think it is the actual date they became citizens

2) I have no idea. It’s probably best to give admissions a call. They will be able to give you the right answer quickly.

thanks NTKS17. But on the app it doesnt say time period . you just choose from 1-5, 6-10, 11-15… and so on…
and yes i think i will give admissions a call. i was just reluctant b/c i already called them twice haha .

dont look into the amount of hours you worked that much, this is not important part of app. Just put amount of hours you worked while you were working, its no big deal.

haha thanks Bobby123. and BTW for the students who are curious too, i called. unpaid internship is not under work (unless it has to do w/ your major).

I also have one more question about the APP. It asks for 10-12 gpa but i heard that Cal poly wants 9-12 . does this mean they recalculate every applicant’s gpa?
