Is anyone in the architecture program…I’ve heard its really technical? is this true. And how competitive is it to get it in?

i got into architecture this year..i heard cal polys really good with architecture but i also want to know some details too..

Im not in it but i can tell you that it's one of the highest ranking programs in the nation and cal poly's most competitive major (google the rankings yourself) Cal poly is known for its hands-on learning process and its graduates seem to be preferred due to thier experience. A tour guide once told us that it took at least 5 yrs to graduate from arch and then joked about the program being called 'architorture' due to its rigor. i believe that cal poly also offers a masters degree for arch

If you're sure you want to do arch / like the location / live in CA i would highly suggest choosing cal poly
just a warning-if you have not yet applied for housing, chances are you aren't going to get a dorm. either way, if youre sure you want to do arch, do consider cal poly. it's one of the best out there

Yeah I know it's one of the best in the nation. Thanks for all that info. I'm a junior this year and just trying to research all the schools out their, right now my top choice is probably Cornell, but I'm also interested in Cal Poly, my only problem with it is that I do live in Los Angeles and I want to get out of California for college. Does anybody who goes there how many people get in?

First look here

Then go to the upper right hand corner under quick links and select student profiles.

Why do you wish to get out of California might I ask? If it's because you want to get away from home so your parents can't keep a watchful eye on you, then you should have no problem with Cal Poly. Cal Poly is about 3 hours away from Los Angeles when there's no traffic.

If you want to get away from Cali because you want something different, then again, Cal Poly is no problem. San Luis Obispo feels nothing like L.A. In fact, anywhere north of Santa Maria starts to feel more like Northern California and San Francisco than the LA, Orange Couny area. San Luis Obispo is a small foggy town, with brick architecture in Central California, whereas LA is a huge, sprawling metropolis with palm trees and a southern-Californian ambiance which is completely different.
