Hey guys, Just a quick question...
do I have a decent chance of getting into Cal Poly ED? I live in Tx, so Cal Poly's Out of State for me. I absolutely <3 everything about it, and I just wanna see how I would stack up, since it's becoming more and more competitive to get in...
Thanks :)

Currently a Junior in like the 3rd hardest Pub. School in Tx? if it makes any difference...
ACT - Expecting a 31, according to Practice exams
SAT - CR: 580 :((((((( Math: 740 Writing: 690
GPA: W: 4.03(Freshman Year killed me, w/o Freshman year, it's like a 4.26 ) UW: ~3.4
Class Rank: Top 25%
Fair amount of EC's, won't list b/c it'll waste your time
Fair amount of Awards, Mostly Math or Finance
Applying into Industrial Engineering, Will visit Cal Poly and conduct an interview over Summer since I've heard it helps your chances...

anything I forgot?
THanks :)

Also, I’ll have 9 AP’s by the time I graduate next year…All classes are Honors/AP’s except Foreign Language
10th - AP Computer Science A
11th - AP Psychology, AP English Language and Composition, AP Statistics, AP U.S. History
12th - AP Government, AP Economics, AP Literature, AP Calc BC…

I think you have a pretty good chance, but your gpa is a little low, try to really raise the beginning of your senior year, your sat is decent, and those awards will definitely help you. Write a strong essay, and have good recs and you should be fine!

thanks aaa!
I’ll probably be sending in my score mid August, and my semester won’t end till End of Dec. so would raising my GPA during senior have much affect since I’ll be doing ED?

Raise your GPA… and don’t do it just for a specific school or to get into college. If you think that you could do better and/or are not trying your hardest, try to raise your GPA for yourself. Colleges still see 1st semester senior year grades (even ED sees grades until the point that decisions are made), so the higher your GPA, the better.

thanks! I’m gonna apply by mid Setember, and semester grades won’t be out till Jan, but we’ll see…

Any1 else please??

If you do not like your SAT’s do not send them in. An ACT of 31 is just about average for the school so good job. Grades OK especially if they improve over time. My kid got into SLO and we only reported his ACT’s and did not submit the SAT’s that he did.

The school does not care and just wants one or the other. I dislike both tests. But givene a choice, I’d choose the ACT.
