Cal Poly Fall 2013 Admission Decisions

I have two children who have applied to SLO and they’re both very strong applicants – we still have the “no determination has been made” message on the portal. :/

what does it say on the portal when you get waitlisted?

looks like im not getting in for cs
4.2 CSU gpa 1240m/cr 27 act

Waitlisted today for Animal Science
Freshman/California
3.7 CSU GPA
2010 SAT

Not really upset. Already got into a higher choice than SLO, but it would’ve been kind of nice for instate tuiton.

@wonlilaznboi

Copy-pasted from the portal;

“You have been placed on the waitlist at Cal Poly for fall. You will be emailed a survey confirming if you would like to remain on the waitlist or no longer be considered for admission to Cal Poly. Once you receive email, respond promptly to the survey.”

The end is nigh my friends.

3.3 Cal Poly GPA, 3.1 UW with 2320 SAT, still no determination.

I expect a rejection at this point.

@achlys

I just got waitlisted as well today, same message as you. Based on past students who were wait listed in previous years, I think it means it’s over. (Which I pray to God is NOT true, I’m just a really pessimistic person).

if they wanted to reject you they would have done it by now. Remember cal poly is a large school and receives the 2nd most applications in the state. from what i hear, the later the decision is released, the higher the chances of being accepted so dont get down on yourselves!

Just got my acceptance! 3.9 UW GPA and 1380 SAT score without Writing. They sent an email titled “An Important Message from the Cal Poly Admissions Office.” They should still be sending out decisions all the way until April 1st - I believe it’s done in batches. Best of luck to everyone. :)

Yeah you’re right, but I’m pretty positive that they are only gonna accept a very small percentage of those people, but there’s always hope…

Congrats to everyone who got accepted by the way that’s so awesome I’m happy for you guys :)

@warlands719 hang in there and i believe the list moves fast the later the decision is sent out so your chances are only inceasing

All of my friends so far have received the acceptances, yet im still getting nothing on my portal. Staring to lose hope here…:(

@getatyou123 the length of the admission process doesnt mean much, down the stretch, its based on your stats. Dont stress over a late decision

For alI of you wondering what % of those waitlisted can expect to be admitted, a look at prior years’ data doesn’t provide an answer, unfortunately.

For Fall 2012 - 2,555 offered a place on the waiting list; 1,064 admitted (41.6%)

For Fall 2011 - 642 offered a place on the waiting list; 49 admitted (7.6%)

For Fall 2010 - 1,746 offered a place on the waiting list; 31 admitted (1.8%)

For Fall 2009 - 425 offered a place on the waiting list; 33 admitted (7.8%)

Data from the annual “Cal Poly Common Data Set”, p.5, at [Common Data Set - Office of Institutional Planning & Analysis - Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo](<a href=“IR Home - Institutional Research - Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo”>IR Home - Institutional Research - Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo)

Mechanical Engineers…anyone!!!

D8 is it possible cal poly rejected me cause my stats are TOO high?
again, 34 ACT, 3.88 UW, 4.64 W (4.12 Cal Poly GPA)

@khulood it is possible that they think you are overqualified and think that you will not attend. i know someone who got rejected from long beach and accepted to cal poly. hopefully you applied to better schools because you have great stats and are bound to get admitted to some really good colleges!

Oh wow. There’s absolutely no pattern with Cal Poly’s waitlisting. I’m going to sign up for the waitlist just in case (in-state tuiton is really hard to walk away from when looking at out of state costs) but I’ve pretty much accepted Cal Poly as a loss. Like I said, I already got into a school that was a higher choice for me so it’s not too much of a downer. Well, any more than not getting accepted is. Haha.

Thanks for the investigative work Lecter!

@Khulood absolutely NOT my friend has higher stats than you and applied mechanical engineering and has already gotten in.

Hey to anyone who is still waiting for an admissions decision, don’t even worry about it, they’re done in batches and they JUST started sending decisions out so there are still a whole lot more in the pile! The majority of people who applied still haven’t even been notified yet, so hang in there. Best of luck to everyone.

Haha i am FREAKING out cause I really want to go there even though I might get into better schools…my friends have started to get in and ajdaskljfklsadjflska and plus, I finished my application like a few days into October LOL
