@twow95: Ah, okay! Thank you for the information. :)

son wait listed for statistics this afternoon
uw GPA 3.29 w 3.85
SAT 2120 (800 math)
ACT 29 (36 math)
ca res
found out via portal

@blah1blah2 I checked my portal today and I was put on the waitlist as well; I’m a psych transfer too. If you don’t mind me asking, where are you transferring from and what are your stats? I’m so nervous about this! I’m wondering if each major is able to accept a certain number of waitlisted people (if they have room), or if they’re only able to accept a certain number of waitlisted people as a whole. If that makes any sense lol. I just want to know what my chances are of still getting in. I hate not knowing. I heard that we’re going to have to wait quite a while. :/

Accepted on Feb. 20th! (Checked portal first, then got email on the 21st)
Political Science Major
In state
3.98 GPA, 1230/1600 SAT
2 APs (4 total including senior year)

Honestly I’m shocked that I got in! Though I am not planning on attending, it is nice to know it is an option :)

@Cheloveu02. In-state transferring from the Los Angeles area. (3.45) transferable gpa. Some EC, I don’t know if that will play a part in decisions for waitlisted students. I hope they don’t make us wait too long. Does anyone know if waitlisted students are still notified of their acceptance/denial by the April 1st deadline, or do they have to wait longer too see if there will be space available for them?

Has anyone heard back for materials engineering?

Waitlisted today…Physics…NorCal

GPA: 3.85
SAT: combined 2020, single 1980 (Math 730)
ACT 32

computer engineering here, still no determination… seems like it already start rejecting people and sending waitlist… so frustrating

@collegekid59 my friend got in for materials engineering 2 days ago

I was accepted a couple of days ago!
Psychology Major
GPA: 4.17
SAT Score: 1950

My son was accepted into the school of architecture a couple of days ago, but I’m sure they’re still processing through many more applications.

Anyone with kinesiology as their major heard anything yet? My portal still says “no determination has been made at this time”

I have kinesiology as my major and I am still waiting. I saw one person on this thread stating an acceptance to this major and one being rejected.

Does anyone know how many freshmans are accepted per major and if some majors accept more than the others. Mainly interested in the Biomedical Engineering. I saw a few (3-4) accepted for this major and one waitlisted. Ofcourse there must be many more who got their decision but didn’t post on CC.

The Cal Poly Factbook lists over a 5-year period how many freshmen enroll in each major. For Biomedical Engineering the #s ranged between 79-186 from Fall 2007 - Fall 2011.

http://www.ipa.calpoly.edu/sites/ipa.wcms.calpoly.edu/files/publications_reports/factbook/fbfall11.pdf

@Lecter Thanks!
So, I guess, we still have some hope. Son’s portal still says ‘No determination made’ for biomedical engineering.

@Lecter

That’s it? Oh gosh why

Still waiting on biomed engineering. Have hope everyone!

More on biomedical engineering admissions …

The Factbook doesn’t have data for the number of students admitted by major, but it shows the # enrolled, and it shows the College of Engineering 's overall yield rate (yield is the % of admitted students who actually enrolled). By assuming that the yield rate for biomedical engineering is the same as the overall Engineering rate, we can calculate rough estimates of how many were admitted in prior years.

In Fall 2007, 186 enrolled in bio. eng. (p. 38 of the Factbook) and the overall yield rate was 36.3% (p.37), so perhaps 512 were admitted; in Fall 2008, 79 enrolled, yield was 32.7%, so perhaps 242 were admitted. Those were the maximum and minimum # of enrollees during the 5 year period 2007-11. Using the same approach, in Fall 2011 perhaps 264 were admitted; with 261 in Fall 2010 and 363 in Fall 2009. So we can reasonably assume that for Fall 2013, between 250-500 applicants will be admitted for bio. engr., with the # probably closer to the lower end instead of the higher.

@karatekid0315 is your friend in state or out of state?
