Cal Poly Fall 2013 Admission Decisions

Just got accepted!!!
Computer Science Major
In state, 1400 SAT

But I got a D in ap calculus first semester senior year. Will this still meet the minimum C requirement since it’s an ap class? What should I do? I’m really worried :(

Daughter got in for Psychology!
In state
Cal Poly GPA 4.2
SAT 2110
Found out on Portal

I think she is more happy that I will stop telling her to check her Portal every 5 minutes than she is about getting in. I have become quite the nag!

Friend got into Mechanical engineering about 11:00 today. Still waiting for Graphic Communication

will they notify acceptances before they notify rejections?
I applied for psychology and was rejected for early decision, still waiting on regular.

I’m definitely interested, any suggestions on how to learn more about the computer science program and the school in general? I’m not sure I would be able to fly out for a visit.

Has anyone been denied?
My portal still says “Thank you for applying to Cal Poly. We have received your application. No determination has been made at this time.” I’m a business major and I’m a bit worried.

any comp engineers find out yet?

How about Biomedical Engineering from in-state?

@frznpixel - congratulations! I just returned from visiting Cal Poly with my son, and he has also applied to one of the Computer Science programs. We received a tour from a friend who is a senior in engineering - and Cal Poly is a very “hands-on” program - far less theoretical than the UCs - computer science kids are making apps and games almost immediately. I was very impressed by the computer labs that were open on the holiday with TA’s helping anyone who was having problems. A big new Engineering building is almost complete and the campus seems filled with motivated students. While on campus, I picked up a little flyer that gave placement information for the college of engineering: 82% have jobs at graduation, 11% attend graduate school. The senior who was giving us a tour said that tons of companies come to the job fairs throughout the school year from big companies like Apple and Google to small start-ups.

The setting is beautiful - very near the coast but not on the coast. The nearby beaches are beautiful and the surrounding hills are terrific for hiking. The campus is reasonably flat so there were bikes around - there was also a big soccer field. And the weather is just great - especially coming from New York!
