Hi I applied to cal poly early admission for communications. I checked my portal and it says “Thank you for applying to Cal Poly. We have received your application. No determination has been made at this time”. I was just wondering if this means… Thanks

Did you apply Early decision or Regular decision? If Early Decision, you are deferred to Regular decision. If Regular decision, it means they received your application. RD decisions will be posted Mid Feb through early March.

Cal Poly Pomona doesn’t have Early Decision (only SLO does). So, I think they haven’t made a decision on your application yet.

Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention which Cal Poly. You are correct that CPP does not have Early Decision. CPP starts around end of January and Early February notifying applicants about an acceptance.

Hi,

I applied to Cal Poly Pomona and it says “Ready for Decision”. Do you have an idea of when I would hear back?
Also, what are my chances? Here are my stats!

3.78 CSU GPA
SAT: 620 M, 640 CR, 690 W
Eligibility Index: 4284

I’m applying as a CS Major and I’m OOS.

Thanks in advance!!

Happy Holidays!

@enigmaaaa123 hi. i’m also applying to CPP and just curious what can an eligibility index tell us? I mean I know how to calculate it but what does it use for?
The Cal states have a minimum EI for admission consideration. Impacted majors and campuses will have a EI threshold requirement for their majors. SJSU publishes their thresholds each year so you can see how you compare; unfortunately they are the only ones . CSULB has a published minimum of 3900 for STEM majors. SDSU has a unpublished EI limit of 4100 for Business and Engineering majors etc. An EI of 3700 for Chico state puts you in good standing. The EI thresholds will change each year depending upon applicant pool.
@MollyN, I second what Gumbymom says. What major are you thinking of applying and what is your EI?
@Gumbymom @enigmaaaa123 i’m applying to an impacted major (chemical engineering), but I actually want to study Industrial Eng (I put this one as second choice since they don’t allow me to put an impacted major as second). But anw my EI is 4490, so perhaps I need to check EI of chemical eng. Where can I find the minimum EI requirement for each particular major?
CPP does not publish their EI. Anything over 4200 looks competitive, so you should have no problem getting accepted.
@MollyN, sorry, when did you apply or when are you applying? Is this for fall 2015 or for winter 2015?
Your stats are really good, I’m sure you’ll get in!
@enigmaaaa123 i’m applying for fall 2015. I applied in Oct or Nov, but currently they’re asking for my transcript so i think my app will not be reviewed until after Jan 20 when my school transcript is available to send and thank you too
Ohhh, okay! That makes sense. @MollyN and @Gumbymom, do you guys know for they ask for transcripts before they accept the application?
