I understand how impacted their architecture programs are and I want to know if I even have a chance because I heard they dont even look at you if you dont have a 4.0. If not I want to apply into one of their Civil Engineering programs, does anyone know what my chances stand for that major at either school?

My Stats:
-3.5 UC gpa
-2190 SAT (CR-760 Math-730 Writing-700)
-passed AP World History test with a 4
-passed AP English Writing test with a 4
-President of Christian Club 08-09 VP 09-10
-Senior Class Treasurer
-3 years varsity Cross Country 4 years track

I’d be very interested in this as well since I have about the same GPA as you and the exact same SAT score. Also applying to Cal Poly SLO but I’m going for Materials or Electrical Engineering

Hey Im applying to Cal Poly SLO and ponoma for architecture too! :] My stats are not similiar to yours though, my SAT scores are a lot lower but my GPA is higher than yours. I know architecture is impacted at Cal Poly, but I still think you have a good chance.

^if you look on their website, it shows their stats for all the schools. So for architecture, the avg. GPA:3.95 and SATs:1301 for CR and math only.

Portfolio is not required for freshmen. Your GPA looks a bit low but your SAT’s in the 1400’s should more than make up for it. Hope you get in. The stats for the college of environmental design at Pomona is as follows:

GPA: 3.64
SAT: 1111

Be aware that these are college wide stats which are comprised of more than 60 percent Art, Landscape, and Urban Planning students who do not have any impaction criteria like architecture does (Most can get in with minimum CSU req’s). I would put the average GPA for the Pomona architecture program at the 3.8 to 4.0 range while the SATs should be 1250 and up.

I know a lot of people will knock the Pomona program over SLO because of name recognition, but Pomona is better for design since it’s near Los Angeles and can hire better design architects. SLO is more technical and has less practicing architects since they are out in the middle of the California coast.
