Hi everyone! I’m starting this thread separate from the other CSUs to keep it a little more organized… Stats of any other transfers to Cal Poly Pomona for next fall + general discussion
CSU Transfer GPA: 3.82
Golden Four: Math is planned for winter; A’s in the other 3
Transfer Units: 60+ by end of spring
AA/AS-T: Not Applicable for my major
Residency: CA resident; LA County; outside of “local” area
Major: Non-impacted; Dietetics (alternate: Nutrition Science)
Also applying to: CSUN (and maybe CSULA, still thinking about it)
ALSO: how many pre-reqs for your major have been completed? Sadly, I’ll only have 8/19 of the “prep courses” done before next fall because CPP was not my first choice so I planned my terms around other CSUs that had similar pre-reqs.
In addition, my current community college has a lot of “no course articulated” slots labeled in Assist because CPP has a lot of unique courses that are only offered there, such as specialized agriculture courses in my major and “accounting for dietetics” (weird)… This could affect my acceptance more than my GPA
CSU Transfer GPA: 3.44
Golden Four: All completed by the end of winter (speech planned for winter)
Transfer Units: 60+ by end of spring
AA/AS-T: No
Residency: CA resident; local area
Major: Business Admin- Human Resources management
Also applying to: CSUF, CSULA, CSUN?,
SFSU?
Prerequisite: only one missing by the end of Spring
CSU Transfer GPA: 3.04
Golden Four: COMPLETE Speech A, English 101 C, English 201Honors B, Statistics B.
Transfer Units: 90+ by end of spring
AA/AS-T: YES, Dec. 2015
Residency: CA resident; Chino, CA
Major: Non-impacted; International Business Alt: Finance
Also applying to: CSUF, CSUSB, and CSULB
CSU GPA: 2.2
Major: Business Admin - Marketing Management
Units completed: 92.5
AS-T: In-Progress, May 2016
Golden four: Almost completed, except for math
CSU’s applied to: CSULA, Cal Poly Pomona, and CSU Dominguez Hills.
@princessdayana Well, I guess not many people are searching for CPP on here! Or, those who are have applied as incoming freshmen and not transfers. Meh, maybe later on it’ll get more responses.
You calculate your CSU GPA by only calculating the classes that are CSU transferrable. Examples of NON CSU transferable courses are things like remedial math, courses you took out of state or at another school that didn’t articulate, or courses at your current college that only apply to an associates degree for that school but don’t transfer.
If you began your CSU breadth right after high school your college GPA is probably the same as your CSU GPA. For me however, my overall GPA is 3.65 because I took a lot of courses out of state that didn’t end up transferring. That sucked because it was a waste of time, but it was also to my advantage since those Bs and Cs didn’t end up in my CSU GPA, which is now calculated to be 3.82.
As for the basic GPA calculations, if you are on the semester system most of your classes are 3-5 units. so for ex:
3 semester unit class x 4.0 (A) = 12 points
3 semester unit class x 3.0 (B) = 9 points
5 semester unit class x 4.0 (A) = 20 points
So this CSU GPA would be: 41 (total points) / 11 (total units) = 3.73 (always rounded to 2 decimals)
Keep in mind that if you have CSU transferrable units from another school than where you currently attend, you have to use THAT school’s grading system for those classes. So if you took a course at a school that uses the +/- grading scale and said 3.7 is for an A- you would have to use 3.7 for your A instead of 4.0 in those calculations.
Gotcha! In that case my GPA is at a 3.57.
Golden four: A1 is planned for Winter, A2 I got a B in, A3 is in progress and my math is in progress as well.
Transfer Units: 59-60. Depends
AA/AS-T: Not applicable
Residency: CA. LA
Major: Impacted- It’s psych !
Considering: CSUF. That’s really it. I’ll probably apply to CSULB and CSULA
I haven’t done my major courses yet. Would that hurt my chances ?
Have you guys done yours?
I have another question. I went to like 3 different schools. A lot happened and I had to keep moving but would they care about my transcripts being from diff schools?
@princessdayana I don’t think they care about transcripts being from different school as long as you’re 100% clear on what articulates and what doesn’t. I think they look at grades mostly and pre-reqs for the major. Since you don’t have any major-specific courses done that may have a large impact their decision but it’s good to apply anyway and see.
@princessdayana Just like what @shellebell212 said, I don’t think they care about transcripts being form different schools either. Just make sure that if you are attempting to get your AA or AS/ CSU/ IGETC, you transfer the credits from each school to the one you are graduating from before you input your submission to CPP. I went to 2 different community colleges at the same time before I transferred to CPP and that process took me forever because of all the paperwork/office work from the schools and transcripts being mailed and etc. But other than that, you shouldn’t have to worry
Oh awkward I just realized how everyone else was doing the stats…lo siento :-<
@shellbelle212

Quick question for anybody that can answer, I recently withdrew from a class that I was taking this semester, so I am not sure as to whether I still list it as a “course planned” or a “course in progress” on the CSU application since it will still show up on my transcript and I do plan on retaking it… What am I supposed to list it as?
@RatedR95 Hmm…I’m not sure about that one; I feel like putting it under “course planned” would make more sense, if you’re planning to retake it. Plus CPP will ask for your final transcript after you’re done with all the classes. Don’t quote me on this, but I would just ask an adviser to make sure.
Hey all… take a look at this! What does your application status say? Mine is “Ready for Decision” which means I should expect an admission decision by the end of April based on my self-reported info… I wonder if that means it could change to Provisional Admit before then or if this is the last I’ll hear back until then… they still have yet to request my transcripts as well.
@princessdayana By the end of spring 2016 I will have the majority of the prerequisites for another school (CSUN) done but as far as with CPP, I won’t have that many. A lot of courses they require are not offered at my school so hopefully they take that into consideration. I imagine it is one of the biggest factors though.
