Cal Poly Pomona Fall 2022 Admissions - Class of 2026

Are you an upper-division transfer?

Son waitlisted for CS yesterday. CSU GPA 4.0. In state/non local. These are crazy times.

Yes, they are. Agreed that in past years (including last year), a 4.0 CSU GPA for CS typically got accepted (at least according to the stats threads). I thought the last couple of years were nuts. This one seems even worse so far.

For those of you who’ve been accepted to CPP (even if you don’t know if you’ll be attending yet) they’ve opened the housing application. You can’t submit it until the 9th, but you can fill it out now.

This is definitely something for the student to do because it has all the questions about what they’re looking for in a roommate and living situation.

If you start it and don’t complete it in one sitting, it does save your progress.

It has been weird to get accepted and not get an email. There seems to be no way of knowing what major my son was accepted to.

Edit: There seems to be a way to access application status on the portal which then shows the major he is accepted to.

Can you explain how to access the portal so that the major is revealed? Thanks

After Login to portal, click on the online services tab on the top right. Scroll down to the service called ‘View Application Admission Status’ and click on it.

This should take you to the application status page where you see the major under the header plan.

Thank you very much!

Exact same case here. Waitlisted for CS with the same stats! Found out yesterday on the portal!

Gumbymom, so what would you say constitutes “new and compelling information?” I want to appeal as an instate biology applicant thinking Pomona was one of my safety schools, but what really is there to say? Straight As for fall semester like many other applicants? Great testing and awards but Cal State not interested so not new or compelling? With my 3.94 gpa, I think I wasted my application fee although so far I was accepted at all the UCs I applied to. Luckily, I have many other options.

New information is any information that wasn’t explicitly stated in your application. It can come from things that happened after you applied as well as things that happened before you submitted your application.

Compelling information is new information that shows you are a stronger candidate for admission (i.e. a better fit for the university) than you previously evidenced yourself to be.

Getting good grades Senior year is expected since you need to maintain the same high academic standards you have achieved previously reported on your application so they will really not move the needle. You are on the waitlist so there is still a chance.

If CPP is not your top choice and some of the UC’s are a better fit, I would not spend the time appealing the decision.

For the Cal states, since they consider being “local” heavily in their admission decisions, being in-state but not local does not make it a Safety school.

My son was denied for CS too. This afternoon.

finally got the email today about the waitlist.

My kid got an email this pm and checked the portal to find out she is waitlisted for Architecture major, but not “Provisional Admission”. What is the difference? Does it mean “Provisional Admission” applicants requires the student to submit mid-year senior grades while waitlist students do not need to?

CSU GPA 4.0
In-State Non-local
A few AP classes
EC and internships

Oh no! I’m sorry. I was sort of following you in the various threads. I’m sure he’ll land on his feet and love where he winds up.

Provisional admission means you are admitted and you just need to meet the admission conditions such as completing your in-progress a-g courses with passing grades and submit your final HS transcript.

Waitlisted means you are not admitted and placed on the waitlist. If spots open, you may have a chance for admission but not guaranteed. Basically this is a soft rejection.

Waitlist info for 2021:
Number of qualified applicants offered a place on waiting list: 9829
Number of wait-listed students admitted: 978

I just wonder how does the waitlist work in relation to the applicant’s major?
