Cal Poly Pomona Financial Aid Question

I’ve been admitted into CPP for the Fall 2011. I intend to enroll but the only issue I have is that fact that I still have not seen the results for my Financial Aid. I’ve logged on to BroncoDirect and have looked under the Financial Aid Awards tab and it doesn’t display anything. I filled out my FAFSA on time and everything too. Does anybody else have this problem? or maybe a solution?
Thanks.

I think they will start sending out the rewards this month, so we just have to wait.

I was told over the phone by the financial aid office a couple of weeks ago that it would be April. I just checked BroncoDirect and nothing is showing yet.

I just got mine! I think you should check. Although i only got loans…
I hope thats not it.

Yeah I only got the Pell Grant and 2 loans…i still have like 17k left to pay…is that all of it or is there more being offered?

My son’s still says this even though he has a Pell Grant and Cal Grant coming-

You have no financial aid awards available for viewing in this aid year.

Bronco Direct only say Pell Grant, State Grant, and 2 loans for me. Is this final?

I got EOP and Cal Grant but they aren’t on my acct. I’m pretty sure I’m qualify for other grants offered by CPP too but they aren’t on there.

Financial Aid is like my life line lol I’m kinda worry right now. If there are any changes to it on Bronco please post and share them here.

My daughter still hasn’t gotten a decision yet–admissions office says it could be April 30 before she receives a decision. We had to submit extra documentation/verification for financial aid last month but BroncoDirect shows only the quarterly breakdown of the cost of attendance, no financial aid yet either.

Received my financial aid package today and pleased.

I got about 9.6k in financial aid and 7.5k in loans.

Ugh. My son’s original EFC from the FAFSA is only $3,886

But then Bronco Direct shows this: Expected Family Contribution $10,642??

And a $500 CPP grant for the year and $5,500 loans. Not looking good. He also has a Cal Grant and Pell Grant coming but that doesn’t show up. We wanted to avoid loans, of course.

I took my son today to CPP and went on a guided tour (highly recommended). So I stopped in the financial aid office to ask about the discrepancies in the above EFCs. In their computer, they calculated I had $163,040 in checking/savings! I have no idea where they got that number since I only made $51K last year and get no other income. I have almost nothing in the bank. They requested I FAX over bank statements and they will review them. Hopefully they will revise his aid amount.

Okay, so I called the school today. They said Cal Grant will be up in July and they will notify students regarding how much they will get for EOP in a later time… when is that?? >.< And I found out that it’s either Cal Grant OR State grant, not both -.- And there are forms you have to fill out for work study beside FAFSA which you can get on the school web.

I’m like freaking out because they posted on the web that they no longer have the ACG and SMART grants starting this year because the Federal Program is not paying them.

My EFC is 0.00 and financial aid is not going to cover all of cost of attendance. AHHH !!

How is it possible that im not getting anything. My parents don’t even earn that much! -_-
I just don’t get it.

I don’t even have my financial aid awarded yet… But even if I had to pay all of it myself it would still be cheaper then at the private schools i applied to

Yeah, but i just don’t want to get into a lot of debt. I’m crossing my fingers hoping i get anything more than zero!

LOVEVNC, what did you mean by this? “I found out that it’s either Cal Grant OR State grant, not both”. I thought the Cal Grant WAS a state grant?

According to the FAFSA, my son is eligible to get a Federal Pell Grant up to $1700 and a Cal Grant A of $4886. I hope he can get both.

I worked through college and I’m thinking my son might have to look into the Federal Work Study the way things are looking. Student Loans are a last resort, in my opinion. I’m still paying mine for my Bachelors and Masters and I don’t want my son to have to go through the same thing :-(

Cal Grant and State University Grant(SUG) are two different thing. From what the school said and what I read online, if you accept Cal Grant’s offer, you CANNOT get SUG’s offer. If you accept SUG’d offer, you CANNOT get Cal Grant’s offer. Hope that make better sense lol I know, it sucks. I thought you can get both.

I receive Cal Grant B 1.5k and SUG of 4k, I will get the 4k LOL BTW do we have to do anything on the Cal Grant acct? I’m done after doing the FAFSA right?

From what I know, most private colleges have really good financial aid program, if your parent make under a certain amount of money per year, you get pretty much a full ride.

“most private colleges have really good financial aid program, if your parent make under a certain amount of money per year, you get pretty much a full ride.”

There are probably less than 30 private schools(out of thousands) that that do that (meet full need ); maybe less than 20, and they all probably have admit rates of less than 15 percent.
