Cal Poly Pomona life...

I pretty sure I am going to school there next Fall as a transfer student. How is it and anything I should know?

It doesn’t look very active, but you might get better luck here: [Cal Poly Pomona - College Confidential](Cal Poly Pomona - College Confidential Forums)

any other comments?

I got into CPP a year back and went to check it out but I didn’t find it appealing. I’ve heard from a friend of a classmate who goes there say that it can get really boring at the school and that the campus is a ghost town on weekends.

On the other hand, I have a friend who currently goes there and he says he’s having a great time, although he was a very social dude to begin with (not saying anything about you OP).

it depends on what you’re into. While the immediate vicinity is pretty quiet, the real college town is down the freeway in Claremont, home to the Pomona College and the Claremont colleges. There is a quaint little pedestrian/ commercial area there. City of Industry is a good place for going out for dinner if you’re into authentic asian food and then you have the West Covina and Montclare Plaza if you like shopping. Downtown Pomona has gone through a revitalization of it’s own as of late. There are some pretty hip clubs like the Glass House and the Fox Theater if you’re into concerts. Of course, you’re only 30-40 minutes to all the events in LA. If you’re into skiing, Mt. Baldy is just 30 minutes away. Close to campus are more affluent residential areas such as Diamond Bar and Walnut. As far as the campus, they just completed the latest phase of their housing complex which makes Cal Poly one of the most residential campuses in the CSU. Nearly 4,000 students are living on campus, so you should be able to make plenty of friends.

Really 4,000 people on campus? I heard it was more like 2,400 from what the website said. I heard Claremont is a college town because of it’s downtown area.

Sorry, closer to 3,600.

I think University Village is off-campus so it’s more like 2400. But I think the dorms are more active than my last college’s dorms-CSU Northridge.
