Cal Poly Pomona or San Francisco State?

Ok, so I got accepted to both CPP and SFSU. I'm stuck between both because they are both on opposite ends of the spectrum. CPP attracts me because of their excellent Hospitality program, and their reputation in general as a school. However, SFSU appeals to me also because coming from a smaller town, I've loved the idea of living in a big metropolitan city, and SF is one of my favorites. It's also a lively and diverse place, and for some odd reason, I like the campus layout a little better. I'm just not sure which one to choose? The one with the better program and name or the other in the ideal location? Off topic, but which would you consider to be more LGBT friendly for me?

Do you want to spend 30 years after college reminiscing about what great years those were, or do working in your chosen field at great jobs? And BTW big metropolitan cities are a lot more fun when you are employed and have money to spend instead of being a starving student.

Ok, I’m exaggerating. If SFSU has a decent program in Hospitality you’ll do well enough. But if its mediocre compared to the CPP program then my advice would be to bet on your future.

Be aware that SFSU is not in the liveliest part of San Francisco.

I’d go with CPP in a heartbeat. You’ll live in a city for the rest of your life if you wish thanks to the cool, high-paying job you’ll get thanks to CPP, as long as you work hard and get internships. Plus, being within driving distance of the beach isn’t so bad.

SF isn’t what it used to be because of the start up boom. Rent is sky high right now. I pay over $1700 a month for a 1 bedroom without a washer or dryer (and my place is rent controlled!), and most of the “original” San Franciscans are moving to the East Bay… be warned. But, SFSU actually has a good/notable hospitality program ;)
