Cal Poly Pomona Transfer Thread Fall 2022

Waitlisted as well for CS

What is your GPA like? I have been seeing a lot of people and some of my friends also being waitlisted today as well ://

My gpa is 3.7 roundedā€¦ This years admission doesnt make any sence, there was only this one wave of acceptance and that is it, next thing we know is jump to waitlist right away.

I agree this years admissions seems so off.

i was admitted on the 25th of feb
colleges: palomar/mira costa (north county san dieg)
program: mechanical engineering
gpa: 3.3
golden four: i was able to skip the english 200 class. a3? a2? idk
& all the lower division major specific courses shown on assist for both colleges i have or will have completed at the end of this spring semester.

iā€™m still waiting on chico, sfsu, and fullerton, and iā€™ve received admission from sjsu (material engineering), northridge (mechanical engineering), sonoma (electrical engineering), and sacramento (mechanical engineering)

in any case iā€™m 200% committed to CPP & iā€™m stoked to move over there this summer.

little update: was admitted to fullerton 30 min ago. but sticking with CPP baby.

That sounds offā€¦ You should be way above their GPA average acceptances for transfer for both local and non-local according to their website. This is really unfortunate, and I hope you get through the waitlist :crossed_fingers:

Hopefully, thank you very much for your good wishes!

Yes I am, I read a lot of people saying they appealed the wait list decision and got in, do you think I should try that?

Applicants may appeal their waitlist decision; however, an applicant must present new and compelling information . If an applicantā€™s appeal is denied, they will remain on the waitlist.

Would mentioning in the appeal that Iā€™m almost a local help? What could I tell them given that Comp Science is a competitive major? Maybe I could tell them that I used to be a Psychology major but Iā€™m doing amazing as a comp science major instead and that makes me a good fit?

You are transfer? You are either a local (within the local service area) or not, so ā€œalmost localā€ will not cut it. CPP does not consider an applicants level of interest or fit.

I wonder how CSU to CSU transfer works for new admits? Is it same categories like local aplicant vs non local ? Do I include again all the comunity colleges attendened and AT-S earned ? Can I do it starting this fall aplication and do I include classes taken at current CSU ? Is it easier?

No local vs. non-local for CSU to CSU transfers. CSU local service areas are based on the location of the Community College for Transfers. Priority is given to CC transfers vs. CSU to CSU. It is easier to do a CSU transfer to another CSU than a CSU to UC, since there is course articulations based on assist.org.

I see, thank you.
