Any prospective transfer students out there? Hard to find other people who applied to Cal Poly Pomona so I thought I’d start this thread to give us a common place to discuss transfer stuff. Did anybody else have their application status changes to incomplete and have their transcripts requested? Hope to hear from somebody haha

Wow there’s actually another CC member that is transferring to CPP this year? =) jk

I have also applied to CPP (highest priority) as a computer science major (nonimpacted).
My application still says recieved and I have nothing on my to do list. Currently around a ~3.0 gpa. Do you know if we are able to make any changes to our application before they review it? I can’t seem to get a real answer from anyone in the admissions office.

sup ppl. i hope i can change my major from urban planning to the applied math statistics option before they review my application. if not, yowo. lol

@Nujabes29
Applied Math Statistics doesn’t sound like a high demand major. Just get in and transfer once you get there.

Glad to see my post found some other people out there haha. Yeah cpp isn’t my first choice if I get in everywhere but I definitely wouldn’t mind going there as my fallback school. That’s weird nobody else had their transcripts requested… Maybe it’s because electrical engineering is impacted

I applied last year as an applied math major.

http://www.csupomona.edu/~irar/stats/students/admissions/docs/Application%20Counts%20by%20Major_Fall%202011%20to%20Fall%202012.pdf

Those are the statistics.

Integrant, only 34% of applicants were admitted for electrical engineering in the Fall 2012 admission cycle.

@CalDud

Thank you for that I’ve been looking for comprehensive stats for admission by major. That’s good to know I still think I have the stats to get in but only time will tell I guess

@petrarch yeahhh that’s my plan.

@caldud thanks for the link. what classes are you taking this winter? i have a few questions if you dont mind. i could msg you :D

Heeeeyyy I’m applying for cal poly for fall 2014 so I can’t really contribute to application status lol I was just wondering, what are guys’ GPA that u submitted? And major if u don’t mind?

my csu gpa is 3.14. i’ve been in college academically for 3 years and i’ve completed 95 units transferable. my major was urban planning but im switching into applied math. @pavingapath i think it’s a smart idea to tag through some UC’s if you dont plan on completing an associates for the guaranteed admission for some csu’s

@nujabes29 I’m actually in the process of my Associates in Sciences in Business. That legitamitely means ill get accepted no matter what? Lol I mean it says guaranteed admission but I thought there was gonna be some catch. Bam I guess I’m good lol

@nujabes29, ask away.

I’m taking MAT 431 (Upper-division Differential Equations), MAT 381 (Operations Research II), PLS 201 (Intro Political Science), and PSY 326 (Health Psychology).

I’ve sent in my transcripts on January 7th! Now its the 23rd and my application status is incomplete. Should I call?

Also, if anyone can answer this it would be great. I have an AS degree from a CC. What are my chances of getting in with a 2.37 GPA? I’m an International Business & Marketing Major

I don’t know about your chances as far as gpa goes, but if you look above CalDud posted a link to the numbers of applicants who applied / were accepted by major. And I’m experiencing the same thing right now with my transcripts. I had two to send. One of them I sent in electronically and it was cleared within 4 days the other one I had to have them mail it in and that was almost a week and a half ago

Sent from my SGH-T999 using CC

Admissions is severely understaffed. It’s a pretty slow process…

HuangJon, are you local? They have pretty low standards for locals. Not really otherwise. I don’t know about other majors GPA’s too much, but I didn’t even think you could actually transfer with a 2.37. I’d say it’s pretty low, though.

They admit people by department and I think only one person is handling all of it. But it’s mostly done by the computer. You’re all ranked by your GPA and location (I think). There’s some algorithm to it. It goes down the list. So the lower the GPA, the longer you wait. Most transfer students hear about their decisions in March & April.

I’m a business transfer from Fullerton College but I also went two community colleges previously. I sent all my transcripts and they have only recieved Fullerton College(electronically submitted), they have yet to receive the other two, one of which was sent by FedEx the other by snail mail. I’m worried especially since the deadline is the 31st of this month!

If anyone has a gpa 2.9-3.1 Please post here if you get an admission decision ! I’m in the same boat and I wonder where I stand for my chance of getting in since CalDud is right, they go strictly by gpa once minimum requirements are met.

@ CalDude. I am a local transfering from Citrus College which is local. I also submitted my AS degree application so I can get guaranteed admission.

Accepted : 2.8 GPA Business Admin. No EC. But completed/will complete 8/10 of the pre-reqs.

College : Mt. SAC :D

Accepted: 3.18
Political science

Not from a local school
