Cal Poly Pomona Transfers

I may not be an expert in FAFSA, but I never had to worry about applying for it contingent on me getting into the school. There was a list of schools that I just selected for my FAFSA during the process. wendell21, it generally means that either the department that is admitting you is slow or you are on the waitlist, i think. i got my decision in march, but i was a transfer student and applied for a non-impacted program. my friend as an ME didnt find out until late may or june, i think. one of my friends never officially got rejected, just was on the waitlist and it said “complete” until school started. not sure when they send out rejections.

Thanks, that put me a little more at ease! I’m a transfer student as well and I don’t believe my program is an impacted one, I’m majoring in business. I read in another forum that Pomona sends out their admissions in waves so I’m hoping I’ll be in the next one.

Hey guys, im going to community college this fall and i am planning to transfer to Cal Poly Pomona from there. I was looking at their transfer admission requirements and i got a question. Do i really only need a 2.0 in CC, complete only 30 credits with a C, and complete all 60 credits? Im going to pursue a Business Admin. major with a concentration in Information Systems, it is not impacted. So as long as i meet these requirements i am guaranteed admission from a CC?

@darkdubzs- It’s always better to have at least a 3.0 when transferring out of cc. Sometimes things and the era change. Sometimes your motive changes as well. While you are in cc for those 2 years, cal poly pomona may raise their standards for community college transfers. Business Admin is not impacted now, but that may change within 2 years. Once the Business department gets strong enough, there’s no way a 2.0 will cut it. Try your best at your cc, don’t restrict yourself from just getting a certain gpa and try to pass your classes. And you are NEVER GUARANTEED admission ever. period. There is no “guaranteed admission”. You are guaranteed admission for community college. They accept most students who apply, but there are certain circumstances that even people who apply for a cc do get rejected. Please start to think realistically.
You better do your research as well. Some schools have a required gpa for transfers.

@2vivie Thanks. Yeah, ive been told those things and other stuff. Im hoping the major i want wont get impacted in a couple of years or the number of applicants raises too much. You can go here to see where im getting more help, and to get on the same page. <a href=“Fall 2014 Transfers - #190 by DarkDubzs - Cal Poly Pomona - College Confidential Forums”>Fall 2014 Transfers - #190 by DarkDubzs - Cal Poly Pomona - College Confidential Forums; Im gonna aim for at least a 3.5 gpa at CC. Hope i can achieve that.

@DarkDubzs- No problem! Push yourself to aim higher and know your limit. Good luck on your future success.

If anyone cares, i found info on the average GPA for accepted transfers and HS students, and other info for Fall 2013.
https://www.csupomona.edu/~irar/Documents/JustTheFacts2/Just_The_Facts_F13.pdf</a>
Page six of that pdf shows the average GPA of High School students who were admitted. Page 9 shows the average GPA of admitted transfer students.

My major i will pursue, Business Admin., has an average transfer GPA of 2.96, which is pretty shockingly low to me, anyone else have doubts on the transfer GPA’s?

No, Business Administration as a major gets less than 10 applicants per year. Sometimes none. So, it’s relatively easy to get into. However, business school here is not that difficult to get into. But that doesn’t mean you should slack because employers expect you to come out with a high GPA here. Most people with low GPA’s aren’t going to have any good opportunities in getting a job unless they were in STEM.

https://www.csupomona.edu/~irar/Documents/Application%20Counts%20by%20Major_Fall%202011%20to%20Fall%202013.pdf</a></p>

CIS took 85%. You have a great chance of getting in. Getting into the business college is not as competitive as STEM programs.

And dang, Fall 2013’s class is definitely weaker than Fall 2012.

Business here is most easy to get into because it isn’t impacted. However within 2 years, your mind may change and go decide to go somewhere else for business. Taken example, with a 2.9 transfer for the business major at somewhere in CSULB or CSUF it will be harder to get into than pomona. If you have your heart set out for pomona, you WILL most likely get into it. All you have to do is become commited. If you aim for a 2.9 might as well aim for a 3.0 right?

i know im late to the game
and nobody might read this

but i got into cpp for international business from a community college with a 2.35, might be alittle higher cause i finished a 3 unit class last semester with an A.

yeah just for reference
i got into Humboldt state for business admin
arizona state for economics
cal state Dominguez hills and cal maritime for business as well

its safe to say as long as you present yourself well on your last final transcript with A’s or B’s, even if you have a 2.0 or if possible a 1.9+ then you can get into business. The only schools that may not apply to this probabily would be SDSU, CalpolySLO,CSULB, and csuf. the others I’m pretty confident you can easily get into.(cant guarentee tough)

I applied to Cal Poly Pomona for Fall 2015 Transfer for Engineering, they haven’t replied.

However, I did get into Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. They were the first ones to accept me into the engineering program.

Hi, I’m from NAU and my major is Hospitality. Is it better if I wait until I’m a junior to transfer or should I transfer to a community college first after my freshman year here at NAU? If I stay at NAU and transfer to cpp my junior year do you think I can finish my degree on time? Thank you.

Hey @CalDud can u help me? I’m getting a bit stress in NAU because they don’t have a good services for international students and I can’t stand staying in Flagstaff
