Cal Poly Pomona vs CSU Fullerton vs CSULB for Computer Information Systems CIS MIS IS Business

Hello! I was accepted to CPP, CSUF, and CSULB. I am transferring from Fullerton College with an AS-T in Business Administration. Which of these schools is better for computer information systems? The degree is called something slightly different at each CSU but it is basically all similar. However I am a person that is most interested in the technological side versus the business side of CIS (initially did computer science, employed part time as a PC tech, i’m basically a computer enthusiast in every aspect) but I also enjoy the business side of things as well and strongly agree that having knowledge in business will give me a good foundation in working for large scale companies.

At first guess, and with little research, I would go with Cal Poly Pomona. CSUF is obviously great in business, but their Information Systems program offers a BA vs BS, the classes don’t seem to in depth (all though I could be wrong), and CSULB is far away from me.

I’ll truly appreciate any suggestions, opinions, tips, exc.

Nobody? :[

No CIS majors in socal or what?

they all are the same pretty much, Fullerton is very good for business, but long beach is on the same playing field as cpp for engineering. So choose which ever is most convenient or most appealing.

Agreed, you can do fine from any of them. Pick your favorite freeway: 57, 10 or 405…

Sounds good. Csuf and Cpp is pretty much the same distance from me. I might go with Cpp just because the CIS curriculum looks stronger and the degree is a BS, which might look better for IT related positions. They also require a CIS senior project, basically an internship to collaborate on a project with a real company. That may look good on a resume, and gives students real world experience. But csuf’s sheer business reputation is appealing. I should just flip a coin.

My $.02 - a senior project and internship should eclipse any name recognition differential between the two schools.

BA vs. BS - focus on the course work vs. the name of the degree - employers generally won’t care. In this case, it sounds like the BS may serve you better.

Since you’re close to the CPP & CSUF, perhaps go over and visit the departments at each school.

Lastly, is CPP still on quarters? If you’ve been on semesters all along, you need to consider that transition.

Good luck!

Thanks. I just paid the admission fee for CPP, so I am pretty much sold for CPP. However I’ll make sure CSUF is still an option just in case I ever want to make a last minute decision for whatever reason.

If anyone else wants to give some input, I’ll still love to hear it.
