Cal Poly Pomona vs CSULB - Business Administration

I was always under the impression that CSULB had a better program because it was impacted, however now I am not sure. I was accepted to both schools and I wanted to figure this out.

I will be going into the CIS(computer information systems) program at Pomona, and at CSULB I would be going into the MIS (Management Information Systems)

Also, can I send my SIR (Statement of Intent to Register) to both? Is there a penalty other than losing a deposit?

I think they are equally good/bad. Cal Poly Pomona is mostly known for engineering/science/technology and architecture, however, they are currently building a new complex for the college of business administration that is very impressive and will open next year.

Overall, Cal Poly Pomona has a stronger “name” than Cal State Long Beach, because the name Cal Poly carries more “prestige” than Cal State, even though they are part of the same system.

In my opinion, visit both schools and base your decision on where you see yourself living. Good luck.

I would attend Cal Poly over CSULB

does anyone have more information about this? I hear recently that pomona has been on the decline and many people have left from the business program. i know that the cal poly name is strong, but i dont want to have to deal with a mess if i attend pomona. anyone in the business area have any information?

I can tell you that a good handful of the business professors are full time professionals working for (or having worked for) big corporations like Nickelodeon, Disney, etc. or own their own firms. So not only do you get textbook education, but you are also exposed to the minds of real world experts and how to apply what you’ve learned in a career setting.

I got accepted to CPP and CSULB with similar major (TOM for CPP and MIS for CSULB) and I went with CPP. The reason is that all business major in CSULB is impacted and it will take you forever to get your BS.

Thank you for all the info guys, randomguy11, if the program would have let you finish your BS in the same amount of time as CPP, would you have still picked CPP?

yes, it’s true cal poly was sliding several years ago until the crazy dean who was destroying the place along with his cronies were shown the door. in the past three years no school has moved up faster. in CIS there’s a nationally ranked cyber defense program that annually wins national championships against much bigger named schools.

san bernardino? typically ranked in the bottom half of the CSU system. cal poly’s business school is moving up with the elite programs at san diego, san jose, fullerton and long beach. completion of the new building complex this year will seal the deal.
