Cal poly pomona vs uc irvine

I got accepted to cal poly pomona for computer science, but my first choice was uc irvine by which i got rejected. Im going to appeal, but i wanted to know which university is better known for computer science out of these two. and i also would like to know which university system is better at teaching computer science the uc or csu. because people say that at uc's it is more about theory and at csu's it is more hands on which i prefer the hands on experience more than theory. please help

What is the point of this thread ? They won’t just accept you because you appealed. You have only one option. In reality, What will be do by knowing which is better ? Are you ready to take a gap year ?

Just to answer the question, UC Irvine is way better than Pomona. UC Irvine compares with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

I disagree that Irvine is way better than CPP. Pomona is well known as a powerhouse in the technical fields. And it may be better than SLO in those areas.

And being a CSU, yes, it is more hands on. I think you are better off at Pomona.

And here is a similar recent thread:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cal-poly-pomona/1429860-cal-poly-pomona-uci-computer-science.html

" it may be better than SLO in those areas."

I hope that was sarcasm. San Luis Obispo is better than Pomona is everything you can think of.

I don’t want to get into an argument, but you are vastly underestimating CPP. For instance, it has a huge Engineering department and is the only CSU to offer an Engineering technology focus. It has the second largest Business Administration department (behind Fullerton) and has the largest Hospitality major. I suspect that the physics department is better than at SLO.

It is a fine school, though it doesn’t get nearly the love on CC that SLO does.

Pomona is better at chemical engineering.
