Hi I'm a senior at a private school I have a 2.4 gap all together and this year I'm taking AP computer science... I really want to go to cal poly because I love computers and I'm good with them too! But what are my chances if I get between a 3.5 or 4.0 senior year and I have a 1340 on my says first time..
Thanks

Your existing GPA is very low and SAT low and makes it a reach. Your senior year GPA will not have any impact on admission unless your plan is to graduate and then sit out a year and apply in Fall 2012 for Fall 2013 entry. If you apply this year for entry class of Fall 2012, you will apply in November 2011 and decisions will be made based on your grades through junior year, senior year grades will not be considered for admission.

your chances are close to zero. the only way ahead would be to go to a CC and nail a great GPA there and try to get in as a junior.

CSU admissions does not count senior (or freshman) year grades in the GPA.

[CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - GPA Calculator](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU)

Also, CSU admissions only uses the CR and M sections of the SAT:

An in-state student needed a 2900 on the SAT-based CSU EI to be admissible to a CSU. But many CSUs and majors have higher minimums. For example, see [San Jose State University](http://info.sjsu.edu/web-dbgen/narr/admission/rec-1208.html) – note that for fall 2011, the Software Engineering major needed only a 2900, but the Computer Science major needed a 3300, even though the majors are very similar.
