@lkg4answers The third was @SoCalEloquence who posted in post #60 of this thread that his or her friend’s student learned s/he was denied admission and was IN-STATE. In post #62 s/he said the student’s proposed major was Graphic Design. And one more was posted last night on the new thread called Fall 2017 Final Status… - another US citizen living abroad - saying:
"My son’s Portal was updated yesterday. No email communication yet
Major : Computer Science
Accepted or Denied : Accepted
MCA: 4745
In State or Out of State: Out of State (US citizen living abroad)"
So, four heard from now, three of which were out of the country.
@DumbleDad Our daughter too with a Studio Art concentration. She was also invited to submit a portfolio. My understanding from the Admissions office is that this means she met the academic requirements at the main Admissions process, now it lies in the hands of the Art Department to accept her.
@Asamuels I am no expert, this is my first kid to go to college! From all I’ve read, in previous years, RD decisions started coming out around mid-February and typical to see OOS and international students first. @Gumbymom says typical to see admissions first and denials later but in this case we’ve seen a few denials as well as admissions. Also, previous years had ED and RD - this is first year of only RD so no one knows if it will affect the timing of decisions. It seems a very few are trickling out - so I don’t know what to expect.
@CAtransplant that sounds about right. I was just combing through past threads and it looks like around mid-feb, as you said, is when decisions are released. Thanks for the input! Good luck to your kid!
We are in SLO this weekend from out of state. I stopped by the Admissions office today to see if I could get more info about likely decision communication given that EA and ED are no longer offered. I was told they are tracking to notify around the same time they did last year and perhaps a bit earlier. Passing this on for whatever it’s worth. Good luck everyone!
@mullinfox Looks like they’ve made it past the first step. I expect this portfolio review step could push the admission decision into March.
The portfolio review will be interesting. My daughter doesn’t really have a “graphic design” portfolio. She’s dabbled in it, but has mostly done studio art to this point. She wants to change direction to GD for college. I guess she’ll just have to lay her cards on the table and see what happens…
Last year I think decisions started coming out around Thursday February 11. The equivalent this year would be Thursday the 9th I guess? But they told @Lynn121936 they were on track to announce around the same time as last year or MAYBE a little earlier so … could it be the next few days? That would be a little earlier, right? ;
Does anyone know the order of how they send out acceptances for in-state? I’ve heard that it is by colleges but I’m confused what the order of those are or if they actually have an order
