I'm gonna decide tomorrow that I'm going to apply ED.

My top competitors are Santa Clara & USD. I'm majoring in business.

Cal Poly:

-Cheaper
-Kids seemed similar to me
-Beautiful Location
-Great Business Program
-Hands on Learning (fits my personality)
-fun school, but not a super party school (which i like - i like that its still a fun campus without a super party scene, as compared to like sdsu, or ucsb - im not that much of a partier, but do like to pary a bit..)
-Goal to produce career oriented business people (very little liberal arts / character)
-Big Campus (I prefer)
-Laid back

Santa Clara & University of San Diego:

-Business programs ranked slightly higher
-Over 2x as expensive (my parrents have the money, but still..)
-Snobby / Rich / Stylish Kids
-College designed not only to produce a business person, but also to produce character / sprituality (important)
-Beautiful locations
-Small campus

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna ED for SLO. 95% sure. But would anyone like to provide some counter arguments before I make my final choice? The only big thing I see really is that SLO is just producing business people, while the others focus more on producing character aswell. Other than that, SLO looks perfect for me. Any thoughts / arguments before I submit the ED to SLO?

Also, would anyone like to make a counterargument for business schools in about the same range admissions wise?? I figure I'd be regected easily at Berk and USC, and barely any UCs have business. id like to stay in CA, but am maybe considering miami.

Haha, Hi Skaiwalk, again. I am applying to many of the same schools you are. I think I am going to apply to both…I guess the main difference is one is a state school and the other one is a small private university…I will have trouble deciding later on too…

I’m currently attended USD and the business program here is ranked top 30 in the country. It is outstanding–a pretty big portion of the student body is in some sort of business major. The professors here are successful and know what they are talking about. The classes are small, and although business is cutthroat competitive, you’ll find that everyone here is fairly supportive because there is no grade curving and the teachers WANT you to succeed. And you’re right–you are taught here to be the whole person—spirituality (but they don’t force it–it’s just there if you want it) and as a human being in a global community.

I wanted to go to Cal Poly SLO–so much that I actually sent in my deposit. But what if you change your mind about your major? You’re SCREWED at SLO. I know it sounds impossible, but isn’t it best to keep your options open? I’ve known I’ve wanted to be a Psych major since I was 12, but I still wanted to go to a school where I could change my mind and explore without getting slapped on the wrist.

Of course, I’m bias–I love it here Perfect sized school in my opinion.

ok, thanks. sounds like both are great schools. im pretty sure i want to do business. so both are great too there.

i applied ED to slo, but if i dont get in ill RD to USD and itll be one of my top choices. im glad youre liking it there!! and thanks! paying 20k for slo is a lot more appealing than paying 50k a year to usd. but both sound fantastic!
