Cal Poly SLO Activities Supplement?

i’m currently working on my Cal Poly SLO Application and here are some of the questions for the supplement…

Average number of hours worked per week over the most recent 12 months:

Was more than 25% of your work related to your Cal Poly major of choice?

For #1, are they referring to employment? Would an (UNPAID) internship count?
For #2, I am majoring in business admin. I interned at a law office… completed court documents, greeted clients, constructed cover letters, and other clerical tasks such as making copies and scanning… is that considered to be related to business admin in any way? lol

thanks :)

An internship is very important – you might want to ask the Admissions Department at Cal Poly SLO if this is considered work. In my book it is – it is called volunteer “work”. If someone else got paid for what you did as an intern then it is work. You are “earning” experience. This is a form of non-monetary compensation.

YES! A law office IS a business with profit and loss statements, payroll, they charge fees for services, etc. Law and business are interlinked in today’s society. The skills you learned in a law office are directly transferable to business.
