I was looking thru some SLO topics and was fairly disheartened reading thru the SLO accepted people and seeing everyone's stats as "4.0 CSU GPA" and stuff like that. I had low grades first two years (2.8,3.0) but my junior year, this year, I've had mainly A's and a much better GPA, like 3.9 unweighted. I also got a high ACT score (32 first time not knowing test at all) and will take it again in April to improve score. I'm interested in either civil engineering or architecture at SLO but idk if I should even apply come fall if I have 0 chance of getting in. I have a lot of extra circulars including varsity track, leadership programs, etc. I'm trying to make my decision on what colleges to apply to and aspire to attend. So do I have any chance of getting in to Cal Poly?

Colleges do like upward trends and your ACT is great.

Care to list your EC’s?

EC’s: Varsity Track, JV football, Ski team, LINK crew, Spanish and French clubs, young politicians, plus volunteering for church youth group in inner city Mpls and feed my starving children etc often. I’ve read that CSU’s don’t care what your EC’a are tho, just hours.

What was your math subscore for the ACT?

SLO: probable high match

ECs mean nothing for Cal Poly.

Figure out your CSU GPA and math/reading ACT scores and we should have a good idea of your chances.

Its all about an index score.
Your index score is your csu gpa (different from regular) * 800 + cr score + math sat score

Ex/ mine was 4.05 (800) + 660 + 680
To make an index score of 4,580
The standard index score this year was between 4200-4300 to get admitted to slo
So basically if you hit the mark youre in
Of course you get extra points for certain things (like taking a math class higher than calculus) and the index score fluxuates a little bit with each major and itll be a little different next year but thats the basis of it

CSU GPA I think would be a 3.25 and ACT math is 30 and reading is 33
