Cal Poly SLO Class of 2024 New Applicants Thread

rip lmao it was a good run ig im going to the east coast now havent heard so just gonna assume reject since lot of stats majors have heard back i just got off the waitlist for CSU Long beach but probably gonna decline if anyone here is waitlisted there

I’m still waiting to hear back for environmental protection and management.

DS was admitted early March for Env Protection & Management

In state
GPA 4.07
ACT 32
DD (twins) was just admitted off waitlist for Animal Science 6:13pm last night
In state
GPA 4.15
ACT 32
Both are freshman
Good luck everyone still waiting! This has been excruciating to say the least.

DD saw portal first, but email was there too. Wasn’t able to accept until today.

Son admitted from waitlist yesterday afternoon for business administration, 4.4 gpa, 33 act, instate. We know several students from our area that have recently given up their spots at UC’s and Cal states after the announcement of an online fall to go out of state to colleges that are opening up, like TCU, SMU, Purdue, etc. I know the UC’s are technically open for on campus this fall but many I have spoken to believe that was just a grab for room and board money as it said larger classes ( populated mostly by frosh in 101 classes) are still online. Anyway, happy for my son and best of luck to those waiting.

My son just tried logging into his portal and the server is down. Not sure what’s going on? CONGRATS to all those who have been accepted !!!

@Bingo2020 Portals go down Wednesday nights for maintenance. It is normal. Doesn’t help with the anxiety… sadly

Accepted off the waitlist for comms yesterday! GPA:4.1 ACT:30

What does “DS” mean?

What does “DD (twins)” mean?

Heyy! just wondering if the housing portal works for anyone who just got off the waitlist or if it took a while to load for people who got in earlier. I’ve been trying to get on since yesterday but I’m brought to an error message

I am having this same issue too. Does your portal say you also have to complete the application by June 1?

@khud2277 I don’t think my portal says June 1 for housing, but I did see on the website that the due date was June 1. I’m not sure if I’m just missing something by accident or if they haven’t updated the due date for students off the waitlist this round just yet

I did get a confirmation email this morning that said “Watch your inbox for important information, including SLO Days, WOW (both events are required), and your housing application (all first-year students are required to live on campus).” Hopefully that means they’ll get back to us soon with more info

My son got accepted off the waitlist yesterday for Civil Engineering. Got a random email (You’re in, what’s next?). In state. He will be declining it in favor of UC Davis, opening up another spot. Good luck to all.

@aggiedad thank you! A good reminder for those planning to attend elsewhere to please decline for the kids who are still on the waitlist and still wanting to go to Cal Poly! Good luck to your son!

does anyone know if you can take community college classes for free during the summer? I’m an instate student and planning to attend cal poly but I want to get some GE credits out of the way before school starts.

I’m pretty sure you have to be a new, full-time student to be eligible for the free fees, but you could email the CC you are interested in to ask. My daughter who is also starting CP in the fall, is registered for a summer class at Foothill CC, and for a 5-unit class it’s about $200 total, which is a pretty good deal considering CP is charging $225/unit. Either way, you should get on it ASAP because registration has already happened in most and classes are filling up. Good luck!

@kikiob thank you for the response. Also, do you know if cp charges students by unit or a flat fee every quarter

@flurryhear You can find most information on their website. From what I can tell, it is a flat tuition for full-time students per year, but you pay it by the quarter.

Here’s the quarterly breakdown of just tuition (not including housing/dining): https://afd.calpoly.edu/fees/estimated-fees

I think summer is the only session that is charged by the unit.

Hope this helps!

I just got in about 20 minutes ago for environmental protection and management. Very happy that I got in but sadly won’t be attending and am sticking with UC Davis. For anyone interested, my stats were gpa: 4.2 act: 26 sat: 1210 including a long list of extra curricular activities.
