So here is my situation. I have been working toward completing IGETC and finishing all the prerequisites in order to TAG to UC Davis for Electrical Engineering with a possible minor in Economics. With the application period coming up I am looking at other options and Cal Poly SLO is one of them. I am wondering if I have a good shot to get in. I have heard a lot about Cal Poly SLO being very difficult to transfer into and I have also heard that higher GPAs have gotten rejected in order to protect their yield (I find this hard to believe). The other concern I have is that some of the articulations between my CC and Davis are a little different than the articulations for Cal Poly SLO. For example my Assembly Programming class doesn't articulate to Cal Poly. Basically I have completed (or will have completed) all the support courses except two that have no articulation with my CC and have completed all GE and have a 3.92 GPA. I understand that my profile should fit the bill, however I was hoping to hear from others who may have had a similar profile that either got accepted or denied. Thanks for any input you may have.

Cal Poly does not reject folks with high GPA’s to protect yield – you are right, that thinking is not sound.

The reason why a person with a good GPA might get rejected in favor of someone with a lower GPA is that they did not complete all the prerequisites. This is the primary reason why rejections happen. If you know exactly what needs to be taken and it was done in a timely manner with good grades you should be OK. I can not tell exactly what the EE transfer requirements are but he school can.
