@JMoreno Did you get an email saying that your application status has been updated? Or did you just decide to check it?

@SRJCEngineer I just checked it as I have been doing routinely.

has any engineering majors heard anything yet? still no determination for me

@SRJCEngineer, just curious, what are your stats?

Hey guys, I just noticed that on my application status my academic level is senior. Is this going to effect my chance at being admitted?

@JMoreno
GPA: 3.01
Major Prep: Completed all their required, and all of their desired (and more).
IGETC: No ( a social science course is all I’m missing).
Work: 15-20 hours a week
Member of MESA, IEEE, and the Engineering club.

I’m guessing the low GPA is what’s holding me back, because I have more than enough of the required and desired classes (was a ME then changed my mind to EE, had most of ME requirements done).

@MattTheME

Is that a fact or mistake? if mistake, id call monday to clear up. if fact… I would check for sure, but I “believe” they do not accept students with senior standing. I had to be careful with my credits this semester to ensure I did not go over the max limit which i think it was 89 total credits. So check or clear up.

Good luck

I believe they do accept transfers of senior standing. SLO does not have a upper unit cap on transfers, but they do require you complete a minimum number of units in residence before you are allowed to graduate there.

Computer Engineering here.

Waitlisted

" You have been placed on the waitlist at Cal Poly for fall. You will be emailed a survey confirming if you would like to remain on the waitlist or no longer be considered for admission to Cal Poly. Once you receive email, respond promptly to the survey. "

3.45GPA and missing the 3rd semester of Physics, from So-Cal.

@stevoleeto when did you find out you were waitlisted?

@babyface11 I found out at 3pm PST 3/1//2014. The last time I checked the portal was the yesterday afternoon. My buddy who is also applying for CPE was wait listed.

does anyone know of any civil engineers that have heard back?

@MattTheME @5nonnegotiables @cidzor

It all depends on how you achieved a senior status…When I was filling out my Cal Poly app with my schools Cal Poly transfer adviser, he basically said that if you are transferring from a California Community College it doesn’t matter how many units you have, you are still a Junior level transfer student. You could have 100+ units, but only the max number of units will transfer over, (90 semester units/135 quarter units). Even if you had lets say 105 semester units, you would not put that on the application, but rather you would put in the 60-90 semester unit range. So if you are transferring from a California Community College and only from a CC, then that senior status is a mistake, no matter how many units you have.

If however, you are transferring from a California Community College and you also have some units from either a state school or a UC, then the 90 semester and 135 quarter units will apply and you would have senior standing. Also, if you’re still wondering Cal Poly will accept Senior status transfers, although it’s rare.

CCC transfer. Business admin transfer. still waiting for something. I’m starting to think I’m not gonna get in with the next round

@movieguy I am still waiting too. I am a business admin transfer

My first ME friend to hear back just got waitlisted…

At this point, I am wondering if there is even a second round…

For BA majors, I looked at the student profile (<a href=“Cal Poly Admissions”>Cal Poly Admissions) and it seems like 202/1636 applicants were selected. I’m sure not everyone goes on to College Confidential so maybe that’s it? By all means, prove me wrong because it would be great if us all got accepted ;-).

does anyone have any friends that are engineering majors of any kind that applied to transfer to Cal Poly and heard anything back?

@michelle0626 Nope, I have 3 more friends who applied for transfer to Cal Poly as engineering majors and they haven’t heard back. Which is surprising because two of them have a 3.9+ GPA, with all the required and desired completed…

I know most people who get accepted will not be on college confidential but I wonder if Cal Poly has just not sent many acceptances/waitlisted offers yet, it doesnt seem so. I don’t have any engineering friends that are transferring to Cal Poly this fall so if people could keep me posted that would be great
