Cal Poly SLO Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

I know of an English major transfer who was accepted on 2/18 and a Sociology major transfer who was rejected today (3/10).

sheesh rejected to cal poly and sdsu today for business admin. got into both schools out of high school applying as same major, rough…

I had a 3.24 UCSB/overall gpa when i applied.
I now have 3.47 overall because I got a 4.0 at CC.

Going to appeal on basis of updated gpa/current medical leave from UCSB/previous acceptance/etc.

pretty bummed this is my top choice. wish I went their out of high school. can’t say im shocked though this whole process is all #'s based.

Rejected, Business admin 3.60GPA upon applying. A bit of a bummer but thankfully not my first choice.

civil engineer major got rejected today, really upset because it was my first choice but congrats on everyone that got accepted, good luck to those waitlisted and I’m sorry for those who got rejected but we will all find great schools for our intended major

Got rejected today as a animal science major. Gpa was 3.4 unfortunately this was my first choice.

Been following this threads for a while, just thought I’d post congratulations to everyone who has gotten in! It is an immense honor. I’ve had two cousins go there, one for Kinesiology and one for Animal Science, and they love it.

I got rejected today and unfortunately this was mine and my fiancé’s first choice for me. MechE transfer, 3.25 GPA, 5 extracurricular hours per week, 20+ hrs of work every week, and every required and desired course finished by the end of this spring semester, except for engineering graphics (my school doesn’t offer it every spring semester).

Can’t say I’m real super surprised I was rejected, though. My GPA is kinda low, though only from a few GE courses messing it up. Otherwise I usually get all A’s or B’s. But it is what it is, time to refocus on other schools.
Once again, though, congratulation to everyone who has gotten in! I hope you enjoy your time t

You know what’s funny? I got accepted to SJSU,SAC,Irvine,Riverside,Davis out of high school, but decided to go to CC because I wanted to get into Berkeley or Cal Poly. During my 3 year stint at CC I changed my mind in going to Berkeley and scheduled all of my classes towards SLO. Now that I got denied to SLO, and will probably get denied to Berkeley (No 3rd semester English), I will probably end up at SJSU or whatever UC accepts me…Probably should have gone straight to Davis in the first place…This is not how I wanted to start my week…

Rejected for computer science major.

Applied with a 3.91 GPA with all required classes & one recommended class completed. I’m not attending a cc right now so that’s probably got something to do with it.

REJECTED for mechanical.
GPA 4.0
All pre-reqs
Many hours of ec. President of engineering club.
Sierra College in rocklin.
I have multiple friends all with great GPA’s we all got rejected. I’m shocked.
But to all my friends and everyone looking at this good luck and don’t give up!
Congrats to those whom have gotten in!

I don’t deserve this admission
3.9 with uncompleted igetc and 2 missing desired courses
I am so fortunate
I’m sorry about your rejections guys…I’m sure you’re all still very bright and driven!
Good luck to you all!

Waitlisted and will remain on the waitlist (March 5)

-CC gpa: 3.6
-UCR Gpa: 1.89 (yes I attended UCR before cc)

Also, denied by sdsu today…
Welp… Still need to hear back from Pomona, East bay and Chico.
I’m thinking of SIRing SJSU(2nd choice) is it possible to cancel it if, by any chance cross fingers OMG, get accepted to SLO?

Found out I did not get into SDSU or Cal Poly today. Wow this school never replied back to me! It is ok since I will be attending a better school at the University of Oregon!! But congrats to all who got in you guys deserve it!

Got rejected today around 12:00pm.I’m a ME with a 3.2 and all required, recommended and GE’s out of the way…my girlfriend got in, so I think I might just stay in SLO to try again next year. It has been such a sad day for all of us engineers…good luck to everybody who hasn’t been denied yet!

If Shazam21 didn’t get in I don’t see how anyone could… Maybe a geographical thing. To those who didn’t get accepted; you can be successful anywhere you go, don’t let a rejection slow you down.

btw, I called admissions today to ask about stats and I was told that over 500 transfers applied for ME but Cal Poly was only looking to taking 24 transfer students. She wouldn’t tell me anything about other majors. Is there any Materials or Manufacturing that would like to share similar stats with us?

Denied for materials. 3.7 with all required and recommended classes completed.

Not surprised, reading this thread. Crazy that they reject so many 4.0ers! I wouldn’t have gone here anyway. Just applied out of curiosity. Good luck everyone.

@shazam21 did you have all presreqs completed at the time of application or by this spring?

… Cal Poly is only taking in 24 transfer ME’s? That reminds me of Cal Tech’s admission profile for transfer; like they accept 6 out of 161 applicants but multiply it by whatever SLO has, it’s about the same percentage. (http://www.admissions.caltech.edu/applying/transfer</a>)

But looking at SLO’s stats from last year: <a href=“Cal Poly Admissions”>Cal Poly Admissions; – 246/1820 got accepted and there are 14 majors that goes into engineering sooo that’s around 18 per engineering major give or take. That sounds about right after talking it out. A bit of a useless post here but maybe useful for anyone who thinks the same.

Hopefully whoever got accepted to SLO goes to SLO because you got lucky! A bit glad that I didn’t get into SLO so I don’t get my head bitten off by whoever does want to go to SLO as their first.

I think they’re making admissions tougher this year because 27% more people accepted their admission offer than expected last year. Overall the schools admission rate is around 34%, so perhaps this year they’re lowering it down by 27% of that 24.8% overall admit rate.
