Figured I’d start a place to discuss being waitlisted for admissions.

It’d be interesting to see the stats of other people being waitlisted (mention if applying as a freshman or transfer), and if they’ve hard anything about being declined or accepted after being on the waitlist.

I’ll start with myself;
Computer Engineering, 3.45 GPA with all but one Major Pre-Req completed. Transfer Student.
Still waiting on official email from Cal Poly to fill out survey.

I just got off the phone with the admissions office. The girl said that we should hear about wait list results–if we choose to be placed on the list, that is–in about a month.

Recreation, Parks and Tourism. 3rd year Transfer w/ Business Management and Business Administration AA. 1000 hours and counting Hotel management experience. 3.24 transfer GPA. All but 1 Major Pre Requisite for RPTA.

Good luck to all my waitlisters, but you should probably drop out because I want a spot ;)

Does anyone know the percentage averages on waitlist acceptance? I’m going in to the Admissions office tomorrow since I live in SLO, so I will post any info I find

haha I think you should consider a different school @ryflyguy. Why would someone want to stay in a place like SLO? Sarcasm aside, I hope you find some insightful info from admissionss.

Waitlisted for Business Administration as well.

Transfer student from SoCal
3.68 GPA
all but two major pre-reqs completed at the time of application. One finished already and the last to be finished this semester. all IGETC completed at time of application.

I guess it’s more waiting…I haven’t received the email yet either.

Waitlisted for Business Admin, transferring from Central California.
3.95 gpa, every pre-reqs completed with only one pending. I am currently taking the class. I am completing a AA-T.

waitlisted for business admin. transfer
3.9 gpa. All major prep courses and IGETC will be completed by spring.
Anyone know how many people usually get accepted from waitlist? is it a rare thing…

@GED2Degree hmm. It went from a 42% acceptance from the waitlist, to .9% acceptance rate the next year… LOL. I’m going into it expecting not to get accepted, and if I somehow I do I will be suprised.

@stevoleeto just received my email also. It was not much of a ‘survey’.
I hope that people waiting to hear from that UC’s will consider removing themselves from the wait list.

Haven’t heard anything from SLO. Curious to know when they will release information on acceptances for Computer Engineering. Im an incoming freshman. I have checked my portal daily.

There is a reason that so few wait listers were taken last year. My son is a freshman at SLO and we were told at orientation that they had a record number of people who accepted, like over 400 more than they anticipated. Housing was impacted hugely, they changed lots of doubles into triples etc. Apparently they accept a certain number and anticipate how many will actually accept but they were off on their numbers last year. I think that maybe this year to compensate for last year they will send out less acceptances and take more from the wait list. Just my opinion, but hang in there. Unfortunately my daughter who applied this year is still “no determination” so probably won’t get in. I would be thrilled if she was wait listed!

Does any one have the data for transfer students who got in the last few years? just received my email, and I chose to remain on waiting list I’d prefer to wait rather than go to Pomona. My major is Agri & plant science.

I wasn’t wait listed but I thought I could share some knowledge. Back when I did the tour in November, they talked a lot about how this year’s freshman class is heavily over-enrolled. I think they are being especially cautious with the number of students they admit this year so they can get a better sense of the yield. They didn’t say anything directly, but I think it’s safe to assume that the numbers are gonna look a lot more like the 2012 wait list statistics than the 2013 ones.

rmen77 – I can tell you that Ag & Environ/Plant Science only has about a dozen slots open for transfers for Fall 2014. That’s less than half the number of spaces they had for Fall 2013-- which was around 30.
