UCI a great school for engineering glad you got in there.
Denied today.
Major: Communication Studies
GPA: 3.82
@meksa++ I believe you got denied because of not having that third semester of Physics. That is a required course. I’m almost positive you would’ve gotten in if you had it. Sorry
Denied
Major: Mechanical Engineering
IGETC: Mostly done (still in progress)
Major Prep: Done except for Diff. Equations
GPA: 3.57 - applied with a 3.18
Honestly not surprised with a <10% acceptance rate for ME.
Oh well. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Just think how intense the pressure is with those who were accepted given the high marks for those who were denied. You could cut the tension with a knife!!
Surprised I didn’t get accepted, CPSLO 6th choice. AVG GPA for engineering last year was ~3.55.
Denied today
Major: Mechanical Engineering
IGETC: Done
Major Prep: Finishing last physics, (statics, and matlab) minor prep.
GPA: 3.75
EC’s: Member of clubs, volunteer work, full/part time employment.
Really surprised I got denied. Not sure what more I could have done.
Major: Business Admin
IGETC: Complete
Major Prep: Will finish in the spring.
GPA: 4.0
EC’s: Tutor at my school.
Just wondering, what deciding factors do the admission offers for CSU’s have. Besides GPA and wether you complete your courses?

Denied
Major: financial management
GPA: 3.78 (at time of app.)
@kpm2014 Hi, I am wondering what classes you did not take as a part of major prep. I am planning on applying next fall for nutrition and just would like to know. Thank u!
Husband got denied today.
Major: Mechanical Engineering
IGETC: Done
Major pre-reqs: Done this spring
GPA: 3.93
EC’s: tutor, part/full time work, volunteer at local elementary school, 3 children (I’m counting it lol)
We’re thinking he was denied because they had him listed as “senior” status on the application, probably because of all the units he’s completed. Plus engineering at SLO is super impacted anyway. We’re aiming for UCs anyway
@meksa++ have you already heard from UCI?
@sugarbabies3 Were his classes upper division classes? You can have a million (exaggeration, but still basically true) community college credits and still transfer in as a junior as the credits they’ll accept from CCC’s will be capped.
If that’s the case, I’d appeal. If they were units from a 4-year institution than that is definitely different.
Sorry either way!
@briank82 All his units are from a CCC. So I’m not sure why they put him under “senior” unless it was a system error. Technically were having issues with CSU sac too; they have him listed as a non-ca resident. Which isn’t true.
And no worries, Thanks for your support!
@sugarbabies3 Well I know engineering at CP is impacted so it might not matter regardless, but I am 99.9% sure that there’s no way he should be a senior transfer, but a junior transfer. I have 100+ semester units and I’m a junior transfer, since all my units are from a CCC.
I would think that’s a pretty good grounds for an appeal if they errantly viewed his application as a senior rather than a transfer. Then again, I’m pretty sure the applicant selects if they’re a junior or a senior, so it might be on him if he accidentally put senior instead of junior.
In short, I guess, the only thing that would put him at senior standing his units from a 4-year institution. So perhaps it’s something you guys should look into.
@briank82 I will let him know and see if he’ll put a call in to admissions to see what they say about the senerio. He also has 100+ units but he has definitely never attended a 4-year institue, and he never selected senior standing. Thanks for your input.
@sugarbabies3 I havent heard from back from UCI yet but my TAG was processed and accepted a while ago so if I dont fail any of the classes Im currently taking and keep my gpa above a 3.0 i think, Im basically guaranteed a spot good luck for your husband he seems like a pretty strong candidate for all UC’s plus I know UCI, Cal and LA do holistic reviews so his essay will also help him out.
@meksa++ ok gotcha. My husband also TAG’d UCI. We are assuming the same thing. I just wish UCI released their TAG decisions sooner. I think UCD provisionally approves their TAG applicants in December.

@sugarbabies3 I was also listed as being a “senior” transfer. 100+ units, all CCC units. Please let me know what he learns by calling and if this is something to appeal.
