How would it look to graduate from Cal Poly SLO's honors program, in comparison to graduating from the UC's? Does Cal Poly SLO have a good honors program?

bump......

Cal Poly SLO has a very strong reputation in engineering. Many companies, my included, recruit there. I do not know much about its honors program though.

In general, Cal Poly has a strong reputation in technical fields like engineering, architecture, or agriculture. A Cal Poly degree in a field like this would probably be considered comparable to a degree from a low- or mid-ranked UC. Don't know about their honors program, but it certainly wouldn't hurt.

Cal Poly's reputation would be weaker in other fields, such as humanities. For example, you might well pick Cal Poly over UCI for engineering, but probably not for literary theory.

I would say if you can get into Cal engineering then go to Cal over SLO honors.
SLO will do wonders for you in california, and maybe some other parts of the west coast, but ide say anything over 1 state over will probably not know much about it (with the exception of some archiutecture and engineering companies).

SLO definitely amazing Engineering programs and architecture programs. It is sad though that it has to be a CSU because most people dont know much about any of them outside of california.

If you got into a top UC engineering program i would go there over SLO if you ever plan on leaving california. UCs are much more marketable in the rest of the US. But if you know for sure that you will stay in california, then the choice is really just a matter of preference.
IF you want humanities, i think nearly every UC is probably better in every aspect of humanities than Cal Poly.
