I’m applying for Graphic Communications in the College of Liberal Arts. I went to an extremely competitive high school that is fairly well known. I was on the Yearbook staff for 3 years in an Editorial Position. I was on the swim team (Division 1) for 3 years (about to be 4). I took 11 semesters of AP/Honors courses from 9th-11th grade. In my senior year, I plan to take 6 more semesters of AP classes.

Why does the Cal Poly App use the CSU Mentor GPA Calculator if they take your 9th grade classes? Do they calculate it on their own? What are my chances of getting in?

With around an 18% acceptance rate for Communications and below average SAT and GPA, I think SLO will be a tough admit. Applying ED should up your chances but I think you will be deferred to RD. SLO will calculate your CSU GPA using 9th grades since they are the only Cal State that does their GPA calculation this way. You have a rigorous HS schedule and good EC’s.
