So I am in a bundle in whether to go to slo or ucd. I’ve been to slo before for like 20 min and it looks like a neat school with lots to do around it. I havent visited ucd, but I have my eyes set on these two schools because my major is going to be ag engineering. One big contemplation I have is that I’ve been told slo has smaller class sizes, which leads to more time with each professor. Where at ucd, some classes may be impacted and fuller. Personally, I like asking questions and getting to know teachers as the year goes on, so thats why i favor slo more. But are these sizes of classes at ucd actually true? I am pretty confident that I can get into both: 4.524 unweight, 4.0 weighted, 1150 SAT(retaking it in october), lots of athletics and EC’s. One big thing in my life right now is trying to become more social. So I want to go to a school that will truly break me into the social person I know I can be.
I am confused, have you been accepted to both schools since your previous posts indicate that you have not even applied for Fall 2017? Why worry which school to attend until you have an acceptance in your hand? There are no guarantees for admission at this point, just do some research and when the time comes and you have to make a decision, then revisit the schools to see which ones fit best.
Both schools will give you an excellent education, costs will be about $5-7K less at SLO than UCD and socially which campus is better will be ultimately up to you.
Regarding getting to know your professors, it probably is easier at SLO due to a smaller school environment, but if you frequent office hours at UCD, you can still get to know the professors. Actually they encourage students to visit during their office hours.
The smaller student population at SLO is probably a better fit but, first things first. You gotta get admitted. Apply to both - the the other Cal Poly and another UC or two
Good luck
