Cal Poly SLO TRANSFER Chances. Child Development and Low GPA

I've heard from many people that Cal Poly SLO transfer acceptance rate is all about "what major you applied in" and that the easiest ones get in. Is this true? Can someone shed some light please.

I applied last week to SLO as a Child Development major with a GPA of 2.77. I currently go to CSU Long Beach. By the end of Spring 2013, I'll have all my GE done and the 2 required major courses for my major to Cal Poly. So I'll be junior stance.

I heard Child Development is pretty easy to get in and I saw a few stats from here that people got in with low GPA's...

Anyone a Child D. major that got accepted? Or anyone that has a low GPA that got accepted?

Thank you!

My only question is what is wrong with CSULB? It is a great school. With a GPA of 2.77 coupled with the fact that you are already in a 4-year program at a sister CSU, transfer to SLO will be a challenge. I am a huge fan of SLO, but CSULB is actually a pretty good school and it may actually be superior in your major. SLO shines in STEM majors. Not sure about child development. You may want to check it out. This could be a case of the “grass is always greener…”

don’t worry you’ll get in :)

Not to rain on your parade. For 2012, 2133 transfers applied for college of liberal studies (child development’s college) and only 383 were admitted with an average GPA of 3.35.

I would say your chance of getting in is on the low side.

I’m accepted!!!
