Cal Poly SLO Transfer Thread for Fall 2020

Still haven’t heard. I’m getting worried.
Modesto Junior College transfer
Applied Business Administration
All EC’s finished
4.0 GPA

Same here, 4.0 with job and loads of volunteering. (Major Related, 25 hrs/wk)

I’ve seen less competitive (3.7, no job) classmates and friends get admitted.

I’m happy for them, but I need to know whether to submit more safety apps.

I’m wondering if it’s coming down to how many hours per week we said we worked & if we said “Yes” when asked if our work is 25% or more related to our major.

These are impressive GPAs that are getting denied & waitlisted.
But nobody on here has answered what they selected on the Supplemental.

No determination here yet. 3.91 gpa Aerospace engineering. 11-15 hours of work, yes to 25% related to major, 1-5 hours of volunteering/club activities.

Major: Aerospace Engineering
GPA: 3.81
Prerequisites: 1 out of 3 desired courses completed
IGETC: Will be completed by this semester along with Physics and Calculus series with Differential Equation and Linear Algebra, and Chemistry 1.

Background: Army Veteran with multiple deployments/awards
-20 hours of work - Physics and Calculus tutor for the veterans club at CC
-Tee Ball coach - 5 hours/week
-Physics TA - 3 hours/week
-Stated no to 25% of my work related to major

No decision yet

Where were you able to list the degrees/ awards you were graduating with? Was it the Cal State Application or the Supplemental Application for SLO?

The same thing happened to me

Personally after living in slo for 2 years, I’d say if you can find it, off campus housing would be fine. The bus is accessible and the town of slo itself is a little spread out.

Sorry for posting again, just want to make sure I give out all my stats so others can compare.

No determination
Major: Aerospace Engineering
GPA: 3.91
Required Courses: Only missing Materials Engineering(not offered at my CC, and was canceled/not offered at other nearby CC’s).
Desired Courses: Will complete this semester.
Golden Four: A, A, A, A
Work: 11-15 hours, 25% major related
Volunteer: 1-5 hours a week(was also major related if that mattered)
Not Local

I’m a biochem major and haven’t heard back either

Has anyone else here received an acceptance e-mail, but your portal still has not changed & still says No determination has been made? Starting to get a little concerned here. I got the acceptance email yesterday morning around the same time everyone else did, but my portal has not changed at all.

Only thing is that I work 20-25 hours a week and it is related to my major so I checked yes. So, for me, I’m not sure that is it. @NonTradtional

Not exactly your specific experience but I was accepted & my portal has been changing several times.

1st there was no Accept/Decline link; Now there is.
2nd there was no View Financial Aid link; Now there is.
3rd, I have To-Do items that nobody else has.
Now I have all kinds of Congrats/ Welcome/ a video congratulating me, etc.

So just wait & allow it time to work itself out.

I was accepted! Was also accepted at Pomona and CSU Long Beach for the same major.

Atypical student. 24 year old transfer student. Checked the box for 25+ hours work experience. I went to an independent study high school so I’ve been taking college classes since I was 15. My transcript reads like a roller coaster until 2016 when I started getting straight As. Several F’s retaken for A’s. Multiple community colleges. A’s for the “Golden Four” ha.

Major Applied For: Electrical Engineering
GPA: The CSU GPA ended up being lower than the UC for some reason, I think it came out to like 3.67.

I’ve taken almost all the EE/CS classes at my school. I took matlab, C++, Python, Computer arch, discrete structures, object oriented, intro to circtuis/lab, general chem all the physics, all the math. I went a little overboard and it seems to have paid off.

It’s nice to know that after so much turmoil and uncertainty in my academic career that Cal Poly saw something worth an admissions offer in my transcript. I’m still waiting to hear from the top shelf UC’s but from what awesome things I’ve read about SLO’s engineering department I’m thinking I’ll probably end up there regardless. I’m just looking for a good job man, Blessings amigos!

Portal won’t let me in because it says the server is down

It goes down every Wednesday night:)

ACCEPTED
Major: Business Administration
GPA: 3.8
Pre-reqs: Done
Local: No (SoCal)

Is anyone looking for off-campus housing?

I’m looking for off-campus housing

Cool! I just started my search so I don’t have a lot of info, but maybe we can get some people together who are looking for potential roommates.

Yes! You can also go on Facebook and look for groups for people who are looking for more roommates
