Well, I seem to be in a great dilemma now. I have admission offers from Cal Poly SLO, UC Berkeley and UIUC in Civil Engineering for Undergrad studies.
But I’m so confused.
People often have said me to not drop UCB. On the same side, they say nothing can be better than Cal Poly SLO as for now, if seen in the light of Placements and faculties.
So is it best to do my BS in CE from Cal Poly, knowing the fact that it’s a state university?
And how easy it would be for me to take a transfer to MIT with financial aid, provided that I maintain a GPA of 4.0 at CP?
Ummm, all three schools are state universities.
What is the net price for you at each school?
At CP SLO, it’s about $36,000
For Berkeley, it’s about $57,000
And for UIUC, it;s nearly $49,000
So, one prime reason from dropping UCB and UIUC is also the ‘Cost Factor’. I tried but could not know any Sponsors. Because being an International applicant, I’m not from a well-off family.
So, is Cal Poly SLO good enough in CE, when seen for placements, in comparison to the other two?
Then, it’s CP SLO…It has an amazing reputation (as you probably are aware) and you will not be adding almost $60,000-$80,000 to your debt load. Add interest on top of that and it will be a burden for decades to come!
