I got accepted to both, not sure which one to choose. I live close to Pomona. Not sure what to do…
Is money an issue?
What major?
Have you visited both schools?
Which location do you prefer: Small town -SLO or Suburbia- Pomona?
Depends on what you want, but SLO is higher ranked, more selective, and much more of a traditional residential college experience. It is in a beautiful semi-rural area and students live on campus. Pomona is more of a commuter school with less campus life. Less than 50 percent of freshman live on campus, and even less upperclassmen.
Some people want to live at home and commute to college - it certainly would be cheaper to do so. Other than that, it is difficult to see many reason to choose Pomona over SLO. Maybe there is a specific major that is superior at Pomona, but I don’t know what it would be.
I major in information systems (business admin) ._. I guess I’m just more worried about if it would take me longer to graduate if I go to SLO since it’s so impacted there, I’m afraid that it’s gonna be hard to get the classes I need which might lead to a longer stay. That’s my main concern.
Thank you for the comments guys.

Have you been to SLO? People usually have a strong reaction to the school and know it is a great place, or not, for them. Completely different vibes. I hope you can get there! And you need to get your housing app in if considering it. Are you commuting if you go to Pomona?
Understand the concern about it being impacted - I now a kid in that exact major and he did have trouble getting classes, but he took summer school and did finish in four years. That was because in some semesters he could only get into 10 credits of courses that worked for his major, so he made up for it in summer. But this is just one story, part of it was his unfortunate place on the register cycle wheel thingy or whatever they called it (they may have changed that process since he graduated 2 years ago, I recall hearing they might). Have you posted in Cal Poly thread to see if this still an issue there?
Also, don’t hesitate to contact the school, I hope you can visit.
Pomona does have a four year graduation pledge program.
You should be successful in graduating in 4 years at SLO if you don’t change majors and aren’t picky about the day or time of class. Take classes early morning and evening if that’s when they are available.
I’ve been to both campuses. I used to live in nearby Claremont and now live in Santa Maria near SLO.
For the brief time I was on campus at Pomona and the many times I’ve been on campus at SLO, I can sort of say what I couldn’t help notice the most:
Pomona’s student body ethnic/racial make-up is quite diverse. Me, personally, I loved that.
SLO? Not so much.
It’s up to you how you want to take that or feel about it. I don’t ethnically fit the SLO mold but am going to attend anyway.
