which would be a better choice? i know cal poly's architecture program is ranked 2nd in the nation, but berkeley has a pretty good architecture program as well and is obviously a better school overall. would you go for the more reputable architecture program or the better college? also, would berkeley be a better choice if i'm planning on going to graduate school?

hands down goto berkeley.

You should look into how heavily recruited each program is for jobs...after all, that's what matters in the end, right?

And it probably depends where you want to go to grad school...I've heard it's pretty hard to get into a grad school where you did your undergrad. Plus, to get into any grad school, you need a high GPA, so go where you think you'll do best. Either way, they're great schools.

well cal poly works towards preparing students for jobs as soon as they graduate, and i know that their architecture undergrads are heavily recruited throughout california..but from what i understand, UC's prepare you better for grad school? i was thinking about applying to UCLA to get my master's in architecture

What he said ^^^^

Go to POLY if you want the best in an architectural education.
SLO is a great college town and has berkeley beat, big time! But, visit both campuses and decide for yourself.

Sure, berkeley has some nice sports facilities, but, the campus as a whole has gone down hill. Took my son last month to watch a basketball game, and couldn’t leave soon enough!

SLO is a 5-year program (BArch). Berkeley is 4+2 (BS Architecture studies followed by grad school for MArch). You need to decide which type of program you want.
