Cal Poly SLO Vs UW

So I’ve been accepted into cal poly for civil engineering and got direct to college at UW. Now I just have to decide between the two and it’s not easy. Im from Washington so that in state tuition looks really nice, also it might be nice to stay close to home. However, it might be cool to expand and move down to California. I just visited SLO and thought it was really cool there, but I still can’t really tell what the people are like and how I would fit in there. I’m not much of a partier but like to be social. Both schools are great and I can picture being at either one so I’m pretty much stuck. Any suggestions or something that can help lead me towards a decision?

Sounds like you have no financial constraints?
Have you looked into the ease of coming home from SLO ie. flying/driving and their costs?

I believe each student determines their own social scene and you can party or not party anywhere. I am a practical Mom and I would stay in-state come out of Undergrad with no debt and then you are free to take a job anywhere in the country you want.

UW is a great opportunity so the make the most of what you have been offered.

I agree with Gumbymom.
Although you do have a tough choice here, take the direct admission from UW and don’t look back.

SLO is indeed terrific, but not worth the out-of-state cost of attendance
(or difficulty of getting into and out of its more remote location) when compared to UW.

From UW, you can consider grad school almost anywhere.

Good luck with your decision.
