I have a 4.0 weighted gpa and have taken 8 AP classes. SAT is 1920 (700 math, 620 reading). I want to get into their electrical engineering program. I currently have a great job working as an apprentice for an electrician company. I am a high school state wrestling champion and I’m in a couple clubs and wrestling. I have volunteer experiences at our local animal shelter. I know cal poly slo has a competitive engineering program, so what are my chances? Thank you!
UC/CSU GPA?
I am out of state, but I used a uc gpa calculator and got 3.75. I also forgot to add to the post that I am in Spanish 4, Spanish national honor society, and have taken many extracurricular courses in computer science, tech apps, tech drafting, small engines, ect.
You’re chances are quite poor. I think you may have much better luck at the UC’s. The csu’s don’t care too much about extra curriculars. They care mainly about gpa and test scores.
Cal Poly SLO uses 9-11th grades in the GPA calculation, so you might want to recalculate. If you are OOS, only AP/IB/DE courses count towards the extra 8 semesters of Honors points.
Based on posted Stats, SLO will be a Reach. Here is the Freshman profile and you can compare your Stats to those posted.
