Just joined this site and thought it could be of some help. I’m an incoming high school senior in Southern California.
SAT: 2040 (or superscore 2080)
Reading: 660 math:720 writing: 660( or 700)
Act: 31
English: 31 math:34 reading: 33 science: 27
My weighted gpa is 4.43. Here are my classes in case this helps.
9: alg2/trig honors, bio honors, Lang art honors, med health, lacrosse, Spanish 2 honors
10: lang2 honors, Chem honors, Spanish 3 honors, trig/ math analysis honors, ap euro, lacrosse
11: ap bio, ap us hist, ap Spanish, ap calc bc, ap Lang, humanities (that’s my fine art)
12: ap physics, ap chem, ap stats, ap lit, ap gov/econ, asb
I’m ranked fifth in my class in about 200-300 students
I have weak EC’s:
I played lacrosse for two years and one was varsity.
I have about 150 hrs comm service but plan to get more. Most of it was at two city libraries.
I volunteered at the election once(idk of this matters)
I’m in a couple school clubs like Leo club, distinguished honors and am co-pres of the collegiate scholars program. I also am in charge of special projects in asb next year. I know I don’t have that many extra curricular a but I don’t want to join a bunch of clubs just to impress colleges, I’d rather actually be interested in them.
I’m sure there’s more to say but this is just a baseline.
I’m interested in engineering but not sure which specific major yet, though I know you have to pick when you apply.
Also thinking of applying to some uc’s like uci, ucsd, ucsb.
So what do you think my chances are? Thanks for any help!
Averages for College of Engineering:
Engineering Applied: 16,118 Admitted: 3,469 Average CP GPA: 4.13 ACT: 32 SAT (M+CR): 1419
You look like a competitive applicant, but type of Engineering major will make a difference on your chances. The most competitive are BME/ME and CS all with around a 10% acceptance rate.
