Cal Poly Transfer

Currently, I’m in junior standing with all but one of my lower GE’s completed and a few upper division courses as well. The thing is, I dropped out of UC Davis due to poor academics, so my GPA is close to a 2.3. I know that Cal Poly’s average transfer GPA is a 3.4 but they also take into account how much lower division you have completed and I basically completed all of my lower division engineering classes at Davis. I looked over the curriculum and most, if not all, should transfer over. I did particularly well in high school, solid gpa solid sat scores, and too many AP classes even though it probably doesn’t count anymore at this point. My plan is to either get a BS in EE at SJSU or Cal Poly SLO. Since I have already missed the application deadline, and SJSU is not accepting spring admission anymore(@#$%)…my only choice is to take extension courses at sf state in the fall and apply for sf state for the spring so I can take classes as a student there to lessen the financial burden. How do you guys think I can improve my chances of being admitted to Cal Poly for fall 2010? I’m desperately trying to find an engineering internship since that helps as well.

I’m applying as an ME transfer with a 3.65 GPA. I completed my golden four and the CSU-GE will be completed this year as well. Anyone else transfering?

Take a look at this: [CSUs to accept new students for Winter 2011; Cal Poly still uncertain | Mustang Daily - News for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo](http://mustangdaily.net/to-accept-or-not-to-accept-csus-to-accept-new-students-without-securing-budget/)

Cal Poly might be admitting students for winter/spring quarters. And I am trying to transfer out of here, so that opens up a space for you! Good luck!

^ The filing period for Winter 2011 was closed on 09/27. The current filing period is for Fall 2011.

@ CSUhopeful, according to Fall 2010’s transfer statistics, the average admitted GPA for CENG is 3.52. Since you said you have completed or will complete all the A1 A2 A3 B4 requirements and the entire CSU-GE set (make sure to get it certified at your CC), you will have a slight edge over other applicants. From what I have observed in the Fall 2010 transfer acceptance thread, Cal Poly tends to pick applicants who have completed the most major prerequisites and GEs. I am also a transfer student and I just started my first quarter here for Electrical Engineering, but my GPA was way below the admitted average. I think it was the IGETC certification that gave me the boost on getting in.

Good Luck

@smallpotato, what exactly was your GPA? I’m attending Cuesta College and after Spring semester 2011 is over, I will have very major prerequisite and GE completed, even the “desired” ones. I’m planning on applying to Cal Poly SLO in the fall of 2011. My only concern is that I will have a 3.3 maybe even a 3.2 GPA. I’m applying for business administration, how would my chances be?

i have read a lot of rejections from transfer students missing pre-reqs for their major. I currently have half my pre-reqs completed but i do have the remaining courses planned/inprogress. How will that affect my chances to get in? Does this mean I am missing my pre-reqs?I am a community college student from Illinois and I’d really appreciate if anyone who knows cal poly slo can answer me.
